Ok, some are you are gonna hate me, but l'm considering fitting dumbo mirrors to my '76. The sports mirrors are too small, especially driving around Oz in a LHD vehicle. Is there a fitting instruction sheet with measurements for the hole locations available. In particular the lower hole, so the internal support bracket hole lines up.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I will say I don't hate you for it- I love my dumbo mirrors and think they even look good on older round eyes. Not a fan of the small sport mirrors and obviously I don't like the look of the bigger mirrors, IMO the dumbo mirrors are one of the only really nice parts about the later trucks and I don't think they look out of place at all on older trucks.

I put them on my 87 Burb and my 91 dually. No instruction sheet. I just looked at pics and I want to remember that I sent a PM to bucket knowing he has a number of squares and could take measurements for me on an OEM install lol

No hate here. Glad to see others upgrade to man mirrors too. I'd try to find a truck has them already and them make myself a template out of a grocery sack or something similar.

Im about to do this to mine as soon as tidy up some other things. Had the mirrors sitting in my closet for a few months.
Does anyone know if a truck that came with the "sport" mirrors already has the internal support bracket for the big mirrors. I haven't taken the door panel off to see but will order them if need be. I didn't learn of them until after purchasing the mirrors.
The mirrors I got came with plastic inserts for the screws and self tappers. Is there a better way or a more stock way

Make sure if you do add them that you use barrel nuts like OEM for the upper mounting holes like post #5. I had purchased new mirrors for my truck from LMC and they included some cheap plastic insert and some sheet metal screws.

The support brackets for the lower holes will not be there.

Use barrel nuts, well nuts or nutserts.

( DaveM already answered I just saw)Yeah those plastic inserts and self tappers look janky as hell. I have the lmc mirrors as well. Cant see the plastic holding much for too long. I already planned to use barrel nuts.
I was referring to the little bracket that goes inside the door and bolts to the mirror.38-5883 Is it there from the factory if your came with sport mirrors or do I need it as well.
It kinda pisses me off that the mirrors came with plastic inserts and self tappers when in this pic it shows the metal certs and it made me assume they came in the mirror "kit" which stated "comes with mounting hardware". I can see not coming with the bracket but to include harware that you know isnt adequate only to charge for the adequate hardware seems shady. But hey its LMC...they fking suck

I guess the mirror kits are also aimed at the replacement market and assume you have them already.

It's been discussed before and I don't remember if I was wrong. But I always assumed that LMC sold the same mirrors that have been sold at parts stores for decades. Those ones come with the janky hardware too, usually.
