Door Seal to big

I was going to suggest lubing the weatherstrip (especially at the hinge side) with something. I smeared a thin layer of Vaseline on the door where it makes contact with the seal to get my doors to shut at all.
vaseline will break the seal down esp if its one of the more sensitive to petrol kinds of construction

I have used lithium grease.Which was recommended in my owners manual.I prefer a wd 40 or just a rubber protectant myself

Most new seals tend to be EDPM, but if its old fashioned rubber its probably ok
EPDM is lots better for long wear.Even serpentine belts.They don't crack like the old rubber did.

EPDM is lots better for long wear.Even serpentine belts.They don't crack like the old rubber did.
Yes, which means to properly inspect them for wear you need to check their deflection on the longest open run, and also inspect the depth of the grooves because i think my 2005 silverado had the OEM serpentine belt, while it did have cracks, there werent many of them. but next to the new belt is was almost 1/4 thinner eyeballing it lol which would mean much shorter grooves

A tire company gave me a serpentine belt groove depth gauge.
