I agree with you it’s a 350 I believe someone swapped the fan at some point every v8 I’ve ever owned had a 5 blade fan. And it is a CK 20 4sp sm465 and 205 transfer case. I’ll remove the pulley and see.

My 1974 Jimmy 350, also with the SM465 came from the factory with an aluminum flex fan. At around 5 or 6 years old one blade broke off. It busted a piece of the shroud and cut the brake line where it crosses the frame when it flew out.

At that time, no dealers had the fan and they were back ordered. I ended up putting an aftermarket fiberglass flex fan on. I would bet that is why your '73 has that 6 cylinder fan on it.

That 4-blade fan was also used on some small block cars without AC. Never seen one on a 70's truck though.

how about a 3 blade fan? circular, not rectangular . cars without ac maybe? My square had a 3 blade and i put more than 3 blade on when I was changing pulleys and ps pump and alternator last year

looks like i have a 7 blade, is that good or bad or just is ok, it was HD cooling 400, so i suppose it prob doesnt fit the intended shroud but it broke anyway

I've seen that clutch type 3-blade on some cars and trucks, but I don't remember what they were. My guess is that it was the replacement for the solid 4-blade fan that looked like it was probably engineered in the 40's.

i do believe the 30s or 40s is correct for that. stamped steel in a symmetrical shape was prob easy, then we found out we can reduce noise and make bearing last longer and push more air if we approach it a little more closely and with odd numberes of blades :)
