I've used Castrol GTX 10w-40 since the '70's in all my engines every 3000 miles. Had 269K in my '64 Tempest, 286K in my Firebird before I broke an oil ring in #8, 486K in my Jimmy before I couldn't take the rear main seal leaking anymore and I have 419K in my Fiero.
If I'd thought I would have lived this long I woulda bought stock.

I use Mobil 1 since its inception, in all my street vehicles and race motors. Still do. Go to the Mobil 1 web site and read the benefits of synthetic oil, both when it's very hot or very cold. Price is an issue for some. Change your oil change intervals to match synthetic intervals. Also I get it a 5 qt. Jug from Walmart for the best price.

I feel the benefits of a synthetic are worth the higher price.

Never had an issue and I beat the hell; out of some motors.

Your mileage may vary.

Recently released by Mobil 1 is their annual change oil.

I'll be keeping an eye on the annual change oil for a long time. I hope it works out for them and us. But then again if it truly lasted that long with no harm, we'd have to spend more time on honey-do list crap. At least with an oil change you get the satisfaction that your really taking care of something, unlike putting up drapes and other stuff. :)

One thing people are Forgetting is how clean Synthetic keeps your engine, Even every 3,000 miles on a conventional oil change depsosits in your engine build up. Ive Had cars ive pampered from new and by the 150k mile mark ive had oil filter screens plugged with deposits.....Synthetic doesn't break down and ive never had a problem since ive switched to Full Synthetic.
