And ya gotta figure he's around 80+ years old or better. Because the Vietnam draft had been in full swing and just ended a couple years earlier. And most kids of draft age had no interest in working in assembly lines. Gas stations and hamburger joints, sure. Assembly lines, not so much. In the mid to late 70's high schools had a 2 track program; college bound or blue collar. There were a number of government funded programs to replenish the skilled labor looking to retire from the WWII era. Few high school grads had any interest in blue collar. Most wanted to go to college and make the big money.
I know..kinda got side tracked just to speculate the "scribbler" was in his 30's...
