I believe that it was a medication cart or bandaging cart. Probably GOV Surplus from the VA. Possibly an IV cart due to the hole in the upper side.

Thanks, I never thought about that possibility.
And it sounds likely as Prescott has one of the original VA hospitals.
I did a google picture search for both tune up parts and carburetor repair carts, and came up empty, nothing even close.

Kind of looks like a cart to hold a distributor machine for tuning.

Is the red paint on the inside original?

While the machines on top were red, the distributor carts themselves were usually grey and I only can remember Mallory and Sun.

As suggested above, could be an old Code cart. Most are Blue but I've seen red before as well.

The red paint in the interior appears original and not faded because it seems the doors have not been opened to the elements for decades.
It doesn't look like any distributor tuning machine cart that I have ever used, and I learned auto shop using those machines because electronic ignition hadn't been invented yet.
Edit for memory flashback: I remember all too well we had to use a distributor machine to do a proper tune up, and when nobody was watching, the teacher would reach into the car and bump the key, forcing us to learn real well how to get the distributor back in the engine correctly.

Could only do five pix in the thread, so here is pic #6.
That restoration shop in Vegas I have seen on TV
You must be registered for see images attach
would probably charge a fortune to make it look new, but it would sure look great in somebody's garage.
That looks like an ID tag of some sort screwed or riveted to that shelf

I went outside just now and examined all sides very carefully, didn't see any sign of a label or tag, but there are a couple spots that do look like MAYBE a label had been affixed at one point in time.
The mystery continues ............

GOOD CATCH, thanks !!
I don't know how I missed that.
It is stamped: serial number 124882
And it appears there are letters painted black underneath, so obviously the exterior has been repainted once upon a time.

When I worked out at Area 51, we had that exact cart all over the place. We used to mount the alien heads on top and all the cubbies on the doors were for tentacles and arms. I'm not supposed to talk about it though.
