Im looking at a truck with no badges, but owner says it a silverado. Does the vin help with this question? it fully loaded with dual tanks, but with these trucks being so old you never know what have been done to them.

SPID not VIN would tell you your options. If you don't have the SPID you are OOL.

YE9 on the SPID. If no SPID, unless it's been pieced together there are usually a few tell-tale signs. Cab trim, interior trim, side trim. If it does not have the wrap around cab trim but has the Silverado emblems, then it's a pretty safe bet it did not start life as a YE9 truck. The cab trim is however fairly easy to install so nothing is 100%.

The easiest but not cheapest way is to send the VIN and $50 off to the GM Media Archives.
