I am replacing the cab bushings on my 1977 K10 and discovered the bushing spacers are rotten. I can't find any to order. I am thinking that since it is just a short piece of pipe and a giant washer I could get my son-in-law (the welder) to just fabricate some.

So if I make them, I am guessing that I should make the pipe part of the spacer slightly shorter than the bushing so the load is on the bushing and not on the pipe.

Has anyone done that? Does that sound right? OR does anyone know where to get some spacers?

Your local farm supply store should have a nice assortment of spacer tubes, usually found somewhere near the 3-point hitch stuff.

Sounds pretty much like what mine had. Was about a 1/8" thick washer welded to a sleeve. Make it about 1/4"-1/2" shorter than the bushing and you'll be golden.
