Every one ton 4x4 got the D60. And those light s aren't on mine.

I just did a quick search on CUCV trucks, SRW and DRW. None of them had clearance lamps on the roof. My guess it's hard to run in black out mode with roof lights on. Easy pickings for the enemy. I would guess the military did not spec these.

Mine don't work and that's part of my winter to do list, I know mine is from a lack of wiring due to mouse ingestion.. :emotions122:

And that may very well be the case, however, the switch on the dash to enable the blackouts kills all the other lights on the truck. The normal position is blackout mode. You physically need to change it to get regular lights. I can literally flip a switch on my truck and kill all the lights if I choose to at this point. Brake lights included. I guess my point is, I've never seen anything that led me to believe the clearance lights were anything other than an option.

I finally went out and measured the front axle in my truck. The measurement for my D60 was 81". This would have triggered the requirement in California to have clearance lamps front and rear since it's over 80" wide.

I actually stumbled across an article last night about clearance (marker) lights, and it's a legit federal mandate. Number, spacing, colors, location, etc. That's why you also see them on the tailgates of our K30's and such (if they're still original) It's every vehicle that's over 80 inches wide at some point across the body or driveline. Which they brought up the ford raptor (PUKE) and how it has amber clearance/marker lights on the front and red ones on the back of them because they're wider than 80" and a standard F150 does not have the lights because it's narrower than 80" (79.9" to be exact Lol).. And here I thought that was just retarded Ford Raptor owners trying to look cool and justify their p.o.s.' vehicle choices and bring more attention on themselves! Me personally, I think they're a nice look on an old Chevy! Heck, I even like the way they look on the late 70's Fords.. But, I grew up around trucks that always seemed to have them, so I'm partially partial to them myself!

They specifically specified them as a delete. No other clearance lights you'd normally find on a box truck or a 1 ton truck either. Even switched off they can reflect light from things like flares on parachutes and give you away to the enemy.

The CUCV wiring system is quite different in several areas. That's why you need the DOD Tech Manuals. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?77609-TM-s-for-the-CUCV

You may want to look at some of the fixes the Steel Soldiers members recommend like the doghead starter relay fix.

BTW there's some really good tech info on the axles and brakes among other things in the DOD TM's

no markers on mine, but I'm pretty sure CSFJ already covered that. one of my full-size buddies calls them Christmas tree lights. I see them on dually trucks all the time. now if I see them on srw trucks I know why.

Dang LOL

Just put a city and state and move on... This is the internet it doesn't even have to be your actual state... Pick somewhere you used to live and don't now or just somewhere interesting that you can remember.

i did, but then he banned me after that because he said my IP address didnt match my location. he sent me a snarky message about how "the location is not a game and thanks for wasting my time". if you search my IP it comes up on the east coast half the time. so it's not really a reliable way for him to monitor users. oh well, i dont really care. i've already downloaded all the TMs i need from the site.
