305?? :shakehead:

That seems to be a popular thing to do and I have never understood why...I suppose because they're cheap

I guess but you can get a 350 cheap, too, and they already had one IN the truck they could have just done a rebuild on  I think there is a perceived MPG gain with the 305 that isn't always necessarily true and not to mention there's usually a drastic power output difference especially in the '70's

"super rare" and swamped in a 305 from a 350 :sudu: Nice way to let a nice truck go to waste :whymewhyme:

Pure ******* there or he's a liar. Rings gone bad in 54,000 miles? Valve seals maybe dried up from age, but likely not rings. Motor may have been neglected or ran low on oil for some time. If it's true the rings are bad, a 54,000 mile motor will good as a brand new again with a re ring job since cylinder bores should not be worn out of tolerance. At any rate, something is not right there to need a motor at 54K.

I agree. I'd bet he's most likely just an idiot. Based on the other info we know from that ad. Think of how nice that truck would be if he'd actually taken care of it in the 10 years since his dad had passed??? ugh....

Yep, car covers go a long way even if you don't have garage space for a nicer vehicle if it MUST sit out in the sun.

NICE !!! But someone's gonna have to WANT it very badly to pay that for it.
You think? For a basically rust free, high optioned, 1974 GMC? I paid $2500 for my very clean 74 c20 base model, and felt I did well. I've been offered $5k for it already....wish I'd have taken it, as Id've swapped it out for this one.

Not even sure which one we're talking about now. Alot about price depends on what part of the country you're in I've figured out.

As far as high optioned adding value to these old trucks, I don't think that matters a bit. Example being, we got just as many guys wanting Manual Trans over Auto, and many guys want manual windows over power. The same for NON AC truck over AC truck. We've got guys ripping AC out, converting to manual, and manual doors.
I think what most of us are willing to pay for a good interior, solid project start with little to no rust and good paint is an added benefit too.
