I have a feeling I know what transmission that is. I've emailed the guy to see how much for both the Tcase and the Trans.

Add Edit : Looking further down the list, the trans is exactly what I thought it was. I think I'm gonna scrounge up some cash and go get it. Maybe I can get him to down to $125 for the Tcase and the trans.

A-833, definitely get it! It's got the short tail section for 4x4 too, see if he has the adapter!

The adapter is part of the tailhousing for NP208. I'm asking the guy about the bell housing for it, cuz it used the Dodge trans pattern even for the GM. IF he had the bellhosing, Im jumping on it. I'm waiting for 8am and going to call him if I haven't gotten response to email by then. He has 32 mintues. I sure hope he has the bell housing and it's included. It'll be a hydraulic clutch, but I've been doing more research on this trans. One of the best kept secrets about it, is that the OEM shifter is identical to a Hurt Comp plus and Hurt makes the shifter for GM on tis trans. Only difference is how the shifter works to get the OD, so the shifter doesn't fit like Muncie 4 speeds, but it is a Hurst OEM Comp plus shifter. I want this ******. It'll cure my itch for a M21 or M22 and have OD to boot. I'll be limited to NP208, but I don't care. I'll use this in the lighter duty 4x4 with those 4.10 10 bolt lockers. Good low gear for taking off, and an OD to compensate, I'll be expecting some fair mpg and something fun to drive. If he doesn't have the bell housing for it, I'm going to explain it's worthless and low ball him at $25 and see what he comes back with.

Even if he dont have the bellhousing jump on it. Use the lack of a bellhousing as a negotiation point.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I"ll let him know it's worthless without the bell housing and it's propietary to that trans only making it about worthless without it and offer him $25 lowball and see what he comes back with. Or, I'll make him throw the Tcase in even though I don't need it. I have an NP208 in the K1500 now, and I have 2 spares too. The NP208 adapter is part of the trans tailshaft, so I don't need his NP208 at all. If I can get this ******, it's going in the K1500 with those 4.10 lockers, and instead of keeping it at 31-33 inch tires to save the 700r4, I'll go 35 inch. This A883 has almost the same exact ratios as a 700r4. A deep 3.06 first gear, then a wide step down to a 1.62, but that should get it rolling real good off the line, and with 4.10's that ratio won't seem so wide, and have the OD to cruise 80mph @2000 rpms and get some mpg. :waytogo: But I hope to hell he has the bellhousing. It's not pictured.

Well, I can get it. I went and looked at it. Seems to be the real deal, but he isn't budging on the price of $75. I probably should have gotten it and I am trying to call him back, but his phone is dead and off. I knew that when I called to tell him I was there sicne he lives out in the country. The Shift ball even says, 1 2 3 OD. And it's the cast iron one. Crossmember and front driveshaft are there too. I just go to thinking, cost of clutch, bellhousing , crossmember, driveshaft changes, clutch pedals, and hydraulics would end up being a fortune. I couldn't get it into Reverse, but he said he had the shifter off of it and may have put it back on wrong. As much as I'd like to have it. It would end up being a pricey swap. Trying to call him back and if he'll throw in the crossmeber and front dirveshaft I'll do it. Those anre only proprietary to the transmission so not sure what else he'd use them for other than to get more cash from, which won't happen. So, I'm gonna call him and leave it up to him with the crossmember and front shaft.

I'd love to have this setup in dad's truck. I did the gear ratio calculator thing and when dad's is doing 2k rpms he's running 60 (with 31s and 3.08s, SM465). With this setup, and 3.73s at 2k rpms he would be doing 70mph. I would have to wrestle the truck from him though, he dont wanna do anything to it. It has bad valve seals, oil leaks all over the motor but otherwise it is in great shape. I'm wondering if the input shaft/clutch is the same as the SM465 or if you have to know a bunch of details to tell the parts guy to get what you need for it?

So what does a guy steal for $75 off of CL??? The Ever so rare Cast Iron Chevy New Process A883 4 speed trans with a .73 overdrive and adapter for NP208 or NP241C. Along with the front Driveshaft and Crossmember. All OEM parts.

I've got a whole lotta info on this thing now, and it deserves it's own thread. So I'll be doing that later too.

Nice score! I've been looking for one of those forever. My brother has one in his '82, behind a 6.2. I keep telling him I'm gonna swipe it one of these nights while he's sleeping. Lol.

Pricey but a cool looking truck, and I really dig his bumper sticker.

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/3128724897.html

It's a pretty mall craweler. Never been in Mud !!! I guess that could mean he still off roaded it. I do prefer trail driving more than mudding. Cruising thre the river beds and such, but still, it's gonna see some mud or sand at some point doing that.

Gonna be tough to get $9k out of it too. But it damn sure looks good.
