I don't think Z71s were available as a long bed.

Uhh yeah, I think you could to special order only usually, unless the dealer ordered it. Z71 is just a package that contains, skid plate, bilstein shocks, oversize air cleaner, agressive floormats and G80 locking diff. If I recall, that's all the Z71 consists of. Was available on 1/2 tons with the decal.

My guess is gonna be, he's making a rock crawling buggy. Many times you see them as nothing more than a cab and a frame with a roll cage built onto the frame and around the cab. If so, it appears he is picking the wrong truck to do that too. There are plenty of trucks out there that are in bad shape that are great candidates to convert to rock buggies aka Truggies.

That was my first thought but that looks a longbed he's taking apart. Anybody with the know-how to make a rock crawler isn't going to start with a longbed.

They will if they are going coils/links and just bobbing the frame anyway.

...Or it could be stolen. They aren't selling parts that have a VIN stamped on it.

That is true. The frame and the cab are only stamped or marked parts in a Square. For those who don't know. The VIN is stamped on the top of the frame rail, passerger side, just about where the passenger would be sitting. So you have to lift the cab to see it. Could be in other places too I guess, but I know for a fact its there. I've taken the cabs off of 4 Squares now and all of them had the VIN stamped into the frame at that location. You will see other #'s stamped on the driver side, but that is just the part # to the frame.
