If it runs and drives, has a clean title and current inspection and the A/C is all there or working plus no rot and a V8...I'd probably wave $1000 in his face and see if he bites.
Shortbeds aren't as hard to find as some people say...It's just you have to pay to get a good start at a project. Most of my mods will be very cheap, parts from LMC seem to be cheap (seen good and bad from that).
Up north where I am from, a rust free SWB for $1500 would be sold in about 3 minutes!
I hear that alot Retro. I hear of guys paying $400 for a decent truck BED, with little rust up north and the buyer is exstatic cuz the guy wanted $500 but he got it for $400. I thinking holly hell, and I am wondering if I got a good deal on this rolling chassis for $100 that I bought cuz the bed was immaculant. I kid you not, I bought a truck once with no front clip, no bed, no doors, no steering column or seat for $100. The motor, trans, fuel tanks, rear end, driveshaft were still there. I sold the rear end for $150, the rust free cab for $100, the frame for $100, The gas tanks with brackets for $75. I kept the good working T350 trans, the motor had a rod thru the block from a crappy crate motor with only 50K miles on it, so I sold the 305 heads for $50 ready to bolt on with rockers and all. I still have the driveshaft and exhaust. The only part I scrapped was the short block that had nothing good about it, although I did save the 6 good rods and pistons. It sucks to have to strip a motor to get one rod on a motor you are rebuilding and had 1 twisted rod. Point is, nothing was trashed on that truck except the bad short block. I just won't throw good parts away. I guess things are worth more up north is all I can say.
I don't the pics are good enough to say if $1500 is a good enough price or not and there's virtually no description so I don't think we can say if 1500 is a fair price or not. The body itself looks like it could be fairly solid.
You're right O77. NO desription of nothing new, so that makes me thinks there is nothing special about it. But hey, it might be. That 85 K1500 I just bought. All the idiot said was, 85 4x4 truck, needs transmisison built. That was it. Didn't say a word about the new crate motor with less than 10K miles, or the brand spankin new Eddy performer eps intake, headers and exhaust. So noone bit on the ad. I just started inquiring as if to be a smart ass really with about 10 questions to send the message, idiot write an ad if you are trying to sell it. Then he responded with all the answers and I thought damn, I need to jump on this even though I can't afford it. I wasn't even shopping for a truck and my bro had done said NO truck, I am now dead set on an El Co. So he got his $2500 El Co with bad trans, and now it has a rod knocking, he is sick as can be. But I bought the truck I told him to buy for $500 and all it needs is a trans rebuild, a fuel line replaced over the gas tank cuz its leaking, the carb needs a kit put in it and I have a damn good daily driver 4x4 with very little rust. Its not always luck guys, its kwowing how to seek out the deals and being ready to pull the trigger on a purchase before anyone else. Being patient etc. Just saying, I wouldn't be paying $1500 for that shortbed noway nohow. I say by the condition of the paint, is a clue of the interior too. Obviously wans't someone's baby that was well cared for.
