Brakes

Needing brakes for a 1987 GMC 1500 i still have the stock drum brakes and the poor thing hasnt been on the road in at least 10 years so need to replace the whole brake system if anyones got some awesome.

Pick a part or rock auto is probably your best bet. Are you looking to redo the whole system or just pads and shoes

re doing it all but i want to keep my drum brakes.

As long as your hard lines are good, I'd just hit up the auto parts store for the new hydraulic parts like wheel cylinders, calipers and such. As for the drums and discs, you might be able to get them turned if they need it.

The truck is 27 years old, yes 27 by year model standards. Probably not a bad idea to replace your 3 rubber lines too. 2 on the front, 1 for each wheel, and the rubber line between the hard lines at the rear end. Hopefully the hard lines are in good shape. If they look good, then they most likely are. The rubber lines can look brand new and be junk though. Just buy lifetime rebuilt wheel cylinders for the rear. They're like $10 each at Vato Zone. You'll find that brake parts for these trucks are cheaper than dirt.

sweet will have to see if i can get some stuff from autozone here also tossing around the idea of trying to make it AWD

What do you mean by AWD? Is it currently a 4x4 or a 2wd? You talking about swapping to a NP203 Full Time 4WD?
