What’s the opinion on this boat? Is it worth the time to get it going again? It’s free, title included. My dad already has it, just not sure if it’s worth the effort. Motor supposedly runs, but the foot needs to be reinstalled. Only real catch is there’s no trailer. Any wood that is there will need to be replaced, which I don’t think there is very much of. The deck up front is also cracked and will need some fiberglass repair, which I know nothing about. Also, if someone has a 20’ or so trailer they would loan me so I can get it home, hit me up lol.

It’s ugly

it’s free

do you drink beer?

I guess I’m NOT a boat person, quite the opposite. Deathly afraid of water, being on a boat causes severe anxiety and being near water is not fun.

but I know a lot of people can have a lot of fun with the buddies putting back some beer getting a boat working. Boating is real culture up here because drive 20 minutes in any direction and you’ll at least hit one lake. Then of course the Great Lakes for people who love larger lakes(wtf ?)

id say find a trailer that will work, get it to a pressure washer, then see where it’s at. If you think not too bad find yourself some boat buddies and fix her up.

if not, you have a boat in a trailer and can probably sell it for your investment in the trailer at least

There is wood in the floor under the fiberglass, wood in the hull bottom and the transom will have wood inside it also. I would check it for soft spots which, if there, will involve removing the fiberglass, replacing the wood and re-glassing it. I've done it. Its a hard stinky itchy job.

Oh man, I didn’t know about all that wood. It’s been sitting outside so I’m sure it’ll have soft spots. It’ll probably be more trouble than it’s worth at this point. I don’t know the first thing about fiberglass boats, personally I’d rather have a metal or aluminum Jon boat that I can get into rivers and ponds. Sounds like I’ll be time and money ahead to just sell the motor and buy what I really want anyway.

Oy, I can smell all the landlubber cr@p coming from miles away. Gilligan's Island references coming any minute now.

The wood issue is probably an issue. The fact that you're calling the lower unit a "foot" tells me you're venturing into new territory. Lots of pitfalls here, but possibly potential for someone who knows what they're looking at and knows whether they're getting in too deep or not.

My first question: Who made it?

I imagine this is what your boat would look like if you had a boat.

I won’t be owning any boats.. I have a boat seat I got for free outside a bar on a lake in the north woods in July 2 years ago.
It folds, it’s blue(pretty blue), and it’s on a swivel. I was going to put it on a base for a fancy stool

definitely won’t be owning a boat. Won’t entertain the idea. I have an outboard from like a million years ago, antique. But it’s definitely not gonna be in any water or boat near me. Nope.

last was in a canoe like 5 years ago in a shallow river.
NOPE

I like boats ! To start with , grew up on the lake .
And oh yeah BOAT stands for bust out another thousand ..
the best 2 days of owning a boat , is the day you buy it , and the day you sell it !
But it’s how bad you want it .
