For those saying put it on a jon boat, it would have to be a wide, 16-18’ boat.

Yup, if your patient you can find a wide jon boat like I did. And these days with gun prices, if he's got one laying around he can spare....he can lower the price a lot with a trade.

Just hate to see him pass up funds for another boat, to put in his truck or other stuff.

^Agree, not worth spending a dime on. Also no prop?
Just saw the lower unit laying inside the boat.
Maybe lucky and someone removed it before dumping it on the ground to keep from damaging it?

That was my thought, taken off so it could sit on the ground.

Two happiest days of boat ownership: 1. The day you buy the boat. 2. The day you sell the boat.

everyone says that but if you've got a "river" boat.....jon boat....it's not as bad. Specially if you are good with tools.

Nope, the SS Minnow has run aground here. It's been there as long as I can remember.

We first noticed the SS Minnow in 1978. We were just returning from a 3 year tour in Okinawa, headed East bound on CA Hwy 58, to our new assignment at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. Thought it was neat, as it showed someone still had a sense of humor. The ranch structures and the boat itself burned in a brush fire in July, 2012. We drove through last year and noticed the hull was completely gone. Another desert oddity lost to the ages!

Well crap, I can’t stop thinking about this thing. I mean, it’s FREE. I just need to borrow a trailer to get it home. It also came with two more outboards. I could pull the motor off of this one, and offer all theee motors up for trade for a Jon boat.

Well, the worst “free” can cost you is the tipping fee at the garbage dump… unless you also have a personal boneyard for derelict vehicles.
Good running outboards are worth money, virtually regardless of the age. Old rotted out hulls are a liability not an asset, financially speaking.

I think this is more recent than 2012. Will have to check tomorrow, can't get to street view on my phone to check the date they drove it.

There's nothing more expensive than a free boat.

That trope being satisfied, my advice for your first step is that a power washer is your friend. Get to cleaning, so you can see what you're really up against.

You want the boat, no trailer.... Call a local towing company with a rollback truck. Get some heavy cardboard. Duct tape a piece to the bow and start dragging it up. Add cardboard as you go.

That type of boat is called a "walk-thru". The center of the windshield swings back open and you can "walk thru" to the front. I looks like a '70's model of something. I don't know much about that kind of boat. People use them a lot down here to ski behind. And a V6, you'd be hauling a**! Gee as lite as that boat is you could easily get up to 45mph. or higher. But these lakes down here are recreational and have speed limits. And if you get stopped by the "lake patrol"...just put it this way, you'd rather not get stopped. One open can of beer and everyone goes to jail and they impound the boat. The laws on the lake are exactly the same as city streets or the highway, worse. And you better have a vest for every person to, or that's another big ticket. Since these lakes are purely for recreation the laws are just like on city streets but worse. I suppose it's that way everywhere though.
