Anyone running wipers bigger than 16" oem?

18's for years. I just installed some Bosch blades-look like Anco's. Where did you find Anco's? I haven't seen them for years here in TX. Maybe a regional thing?

Theres ancos here in PA, theyre like trico... cheapos

For you guys running the blade types, which ones did you get? I tried to get some but they wouldn’t work with my pin type arms. I’ve had the blades on everything else, I hate the traditional style wipers.

That's what I was going to say. Back in the day Ancos were a great blade, now here in this area at least most of the "framing" is made out of plastic and they sell for cheap like trico. I bet they were bought out at some point. Skip ancos they aren't what they use to be.

I use bosch clear advantage on everything I own they will work fine with your "pin type arms", and the pricing is reasonable. The only problem is they can be hard to find in retail stores, but they are available through national wholesale companies.

86+ wiper arms, which can be bought new, change the squirters from the hood to the arms(I guess You can just yank them off the arms and keep them on the hood, too) but give you a 90 degree pin, hook, thingy that is more functional and better securing than the old tab. It also has more wiper support.

I put PIAA Silicone blades on my truck.

I'm still running the old style arms on my truck, been meaning to switch over but kind of forgot. Now that I'm due for new blades now is the time, I've got to go into work tomorrow so I'll have to see if anyone has the newer style arms in stock.

Thanks for that, BTW if you weren't aware most blades that take the "pin type" do not have the hole in the middle of the blade, so you could remove the blade flip the top end to the bottom and it would change the spacing leaving an inch or so more space at the top if that makes sense. Not sure that really matters clearly there is enough clearance either way.

As a side note I fixed my squirters today. I'm still running the mechanical built into the wiper motor kind, popped the cover off and found a broken spring, cost for repair $0.00

You mean to move the blade up or down, depending on my original location? Is something off with the way I did it? I lost the original package with the fasteners for the wiper blades, and had to scrounge them from a couple other blades I have. They might not even be proper center hook holding thingys. But if you mean just to move up or down, I getcha.

I like my original silver colored arms on my 70's trucks. They will be staying, especially since I found out that Anco makes J-hook adapters for the bayonet style arms. They fit snug and you can run pretty much any wiper blade you want since the J-hook style is so common.

You can get acdelco 18" wipers from any gm dealer that fit the old silver wiper arms.

Using larger blades there can be another issue besides more strain on the motor. The arm spring tension is matched to the 16" blade. When you use a larger blades now you have less down pressure per inch. If the spring is old, like a 40 year old square, the blades may lift at speed or wind.

I wish my truck was fast enough to lift the wipers at speed lol
