In a potential ****** economy that we're approaching, the bank will probably hand out all you want. But I'm gonna try to avoid that
What im saying is if you come out of it with very secure jobs and doing ok, you could get a loan with the amount you have and pay it back rapidly if you wanted to have a high credit score for say, a house purchase or home improvment. not as a means to spend more than you can expect to pay. but yes, we will have to see where the economy goes.

I'll hang onto my chips for now and see how the game plays out

Not sure really where this was going (the thread)

But I got the trans in the passport, all buttoned up, etc. Was only able to get 8.5 quarts in with it sitting there in park.

Added 2 quarts, fired it up, pumped it thru, turn it off, and repeat.

Last 3 of the 8.5 quarts was done with it running in park.
Took it for a spin, shifts thru all gears good. Slow to go in gear. I just need to add that last 1.5 quarts now what it's pumped it thru all the gears, then it should be good to go.

IIRC, Isuzu Pup was more like the Chevy Luv, Isuzu Hombre is more like the S-10/Sonoma.

And evidently, it Is a French built transmission, by a GM plant in France. Just a FYI.

This was redundant, but you get the point.

I'm going to need to find me one of these to disect and play with. I remember back in the 80's there was a transmission that a guy made a fortune on and that's all he did was that 1 model and it's dirivitives. It was YourAPeein and used in many of the BMW, Mercedes and other higher end cars. He always bragged about how much he loved Yuppie money. He said he turned away the domestics like the Th350, Th400, 904, 727, C4 and C6 etc. Said he'd leave those for the amatuers to make pocket change. He claimed he about had a monopoly on those because there wasn't to many people in So Cali doing them. He'd have a 2-3 week turnaround because they were lined up.

The transmission to say the least was very backwards in comparison to a 700r4 or 4l60e. Unique Sortof, 3rd gear Sprague was a REAL PAIN IN MY ASS!
internal snap ring held it together.

As I said, 2 valve bodies, 2 pans (obviously) 3 piece housing.
The bell, 1st and 4th gear and pump housing, and the rest housed 2nd and 3rd and it's clutches and band.

So for whatever reason this abortion of a transmission gave me a kick in the ass.

Yesterday, I topped off the fluid
(it's impossible to overfill, it spits out what it doesn't need), took it for a spin... No more hesitation in gear, shifted great, held 1st better than it ever has, etc etc.

I go into the yard to make sure her 4x4 was working, I pop it into 4x4, put the trans in drive, something popped and it starts puking fluid out of the front. After investigating, it's definitely in the bellhousing.

So I'm assuming either I got a faulty front seal, or the TC gave up.
Guess we'll find out when I get the transmission BACK OUT :banghead:

The great news is, it's not pump failure or anything serious. Because it still ran drove. As I was driving it up on the ramps, it was starting to slip out of first, which I'm confident is because it lost so much fluid.

Internally, I'm confident in my work, as proven by the nice returned driveability, shifting, etc.
Very firm, positive shifts, which I haven't ever felt in that truck since I've known this woman.

But something up front decided it had enough.

Thanks for that, whatever you are.

I'm betting my money on a cracked TC, or the front seal is garbage (the new one I put on the transmission)
Needless to say, my heart sank to my shoes when I saw fluid pouring out of the front of the transmission. Because I was done working on it. It was ready for her to go to work monday.

I guess the blessing amongst this adverse situation is that it did it to me, and not to her on her way back.

Winching up a broke down car on the trailer early Monday AM would've been lousy.
