Sumbish, they charged you $74 just to mount and balance those 4 wheels??? Around here usually mounting is FREE, then $8 for spin balancing. Since you didn't buy the tires there, and it was just a swap, they'd probably charge $2 more per wheel, so $40 and all being labor, no tax.

Yeah dude, I was kinda pissed. The only reason I went to this place is location, its right down the street. I applied at this place a while ago and they never gave me a shot, yet the guy changing my tires sucked at it. It should have been cheaper.

I should have mentioned Im going to be buying some tires for the Mustang and I might have got some better service.

look good but need center caps and bigger tires.

their price was sky high, around here they want $7-8 a tire to mount or dismount and $7-8 a tire to balance. That still aint $75 though.

If you're paying $16/wheel (mount/balance) that's 64 before sales tax. According to my math that's not real far from $75. I personally don't think $75 is really that far off base compared to most other shops at least in my area

I change my own tires. Looks good Iman. Now you just need the gas money to cruise around and show them off, lol. Does the truck feel different with those wheels?

Do you have a rim machine or what and how do you fill the tires up with air? Do you have a compressor?

I used to have an old tire bead breaking tool and it got lost. I use the forklifts at work. I lay the tire/wheel on the ground, pull out the valve stem core out and drain the air pressure, then take the forklift and drive up onto the tire and around the rim with the steer tire and it pops the bead. Flip the tire over and pop the rear bead the same way. Then use smooth tipped pry bars to work the tire off the rim. Then after you put the new one on the trick is to force the rear bead to the back of the rim so it holds then pull lightly to seat the front bead while you are blowing air into the open valve stem. A regular compressor can do it. Once the beads pop into place replace the valve core and fill to spec.

Usually I'll seat the back bead as far as I can then stand the tire in a doorway on an angle against the door sill and omy leg and the floor to the tire pushes against the front of the rim and blow air into it. Kind of a bitch but it's free. I don't have a balancer, but I never have issues and don't do a lot of highway driving anyway.

I've done with a truck before driving on it, but the forklift is nice because the tires are solid and the tight steering of it makes it easy. Don't worry, I'm going to be needing tires the end of this year, I'll be doing a write up on the redneck way to change tires. :waygoto:

Nothing wrong with that :D I'd attempt your way, too, if I had access to said items. If there's one thing I don't like it's giving people money for things that I can easily do on my own.

You dont NEED a forklift to do this, I've done it with the wife's car on some wheels I wanted to junk. The tight turning radius of the forklift (and heavy-ass weight) makes it easier though.
