As you may know from my other posts I changed out my factory sealed beam headlights for some aftermarket H4 halogen headlights. I wired them up basically just in place of stock but I'm having two issues.

The first issue is some sort of power bleed going on. When the dims are on the brights are still barely glowing. Any idea as to why? The H4s have three prongs just like the stock lights. The factory brights had just 2 so I bent down the additional one on the replacement H4s.

Second issue is that in stock form the upper dims are on alone and when the brights are in all 4 burn. With the new H4s when I turn on the brights it dims the top lights and turns on only the lower brights (and I have a similar power bleed and the dims still barely glow).

Any ideas are welcome. They work and are functional but I'd rather they work right of course.

IF you have after market with 3 prongs then they are a high/low setup. That's why you have 3 prongs

Any idea on the power bleed? I don't mind the high/low thing as I rarely use the highs anyway. But the bleed bothers me.

On a 4 bulb system only 1 set should be low/high and the other set high.

On low beams only the top 2 come on then on high beam all 4 come on.

Since i bent the extra lead down on the lowers shouldnt they operate as brights only? Or just thinking thats the source of the power bleed maybe with the open lead?

I would install 2 high beam bulbs(2 prong) in the lowers and 2 Low/high beam bulbs(3 prong) in the uppers and see what happens.

All my bulbs are packed away or I would give you the #s for them

I have searched and I cant find a 2 prong, bright only bulb. I can find the whole sealed lights, but I just need a bulb. If I replace the whole light then I lose the LED turn signals that replace the factory turn signals.
