yeah lolI doubt that is limited to Dodges. We get a lot of northern trucks down in our area and rust bucket describes them perfectly.
U haven't driven one from the early 2000s thenNever have owned a Dodge. They have some good looking designs but I don't trust the fit and finish. Talking to owners, they complain about squeaks, rattles, and random **** falling off. Makes perfect sense that they are owned by Fiat.
Yep, that is what I say good about Dodges, The 5.9 common rail 12V Cummins makes a great transplant to a Chevy when the Dodge falls apart around it's Cummins.Say what you want about a dodge, but the 12v p-pump Cummins is one of the greatest engines of all time. Easily capable of over 700tq or capable of ~25mpg in a full-size. Pretty amazing.
Tis True, not much will last without maintenance.I've owned a number of the cars with "legendarily reliable" engines; Volvo 240, a couple I-5 20v Audis, I-5 Volvo, 12v cummins, 7.3 power stroke, 350 sbc. I think part of the problem with the stories of everything falling apart around the motor is that people seek these vehicles out for their reliability, then assume that means that NO maintenance need be done. its worse for the 12v because they were often rode hard and put up wet. they are work horses but need some love like everything else. my pops has owned a few cummins trucks (currently a 2017 3500 24v) and I own one (1993 w350 12v) and we've had good experiences. yes the interiors are **** in the earlier ones for sure. you have to keep up on the bushings etc. especially in the front end. there's over a half a ton hanging out up there. same goes for my 7.3 excursion; yes the motor will go and go and go, but that doesn't mean the rubber in the bushings was intended to last a million miles.
