89 3/4 Ton conversion consideration

something something rear end changes suburban
I have a rolling 77 K25 frame and a rolling 78 K10 frame if you need pictures of a half ton setup vs 3/4 ton of any kind. I dont know what differences in a burban vs pickup, but very visible and intact... ish. The rear end may have separted from the 3/4 ton and tweaked the frame rails, but all the parks are there.. just strewn out a bit.

There is something I didn't think about, but a friend pointed out, I won't be able to run a 15" wheel anymore with the conversion, will I?
i think 15 doesnt clear the drums on a 14 bolt, or it would have top flush mount on the hub with no backing.. which would be a lot of pressure on a wheel.

You should be fine. If the back spacing is tight it may require a small amount of grinding.

My county has 90,000 people and it takes an hour in either direction of center to get to the next county. I dont know what a big city is lol

I thought of all of y’all as Yankees till I got to know Ted(@78C10BigTen).

I never had a reason to interact with northerners. Glad I did. Some of y’all are pretty darn cool and I would trade some of the yuppies down here for y’all in a heartbeat.

Is there anything different about 3/4 to 1/2 ton steering that I need to know about?
Or can I keep the same pump and box?

Probably would have to change the pitman arm and drag link wouldn't I?

I would be prepared to replace the metal brake lines in the rear in case you run into trouble getting them off. I know I did!

Yeah, probably not a bad idea.
Like I said, if I was gonna do it, it'd have to be disc rear,

These are the ones I made to accommodate my spring assisted shocks. The use the factory mounting locations. The shock bolt goes through my mount, through the factory mount and bolts up as normal. I couldn't use any aftermarket ones as they wouldn't clear the springs.

AFAIK the 15" 8 lug wheels do fit the 14 bolt with the correct backspacing. It's the fronts you have to worry about. I'm not sure on a 2wd but on a 4wd you need to grind the caliper down about 1/2". They have TONS of meat on them so don't worry about going through.

Now if only I could find some sport utility wheels like what's on it, but in 8 lug.

I know they don't exist, but I remember those wheels always being on it.

A bit sentimental, I know.
