87 Smog Delete

Hey guys. I did a search on smog pump removal. My pulley is damaged and theres no belt going to it so I figured id remove it and save it. I heard that the two wire harness can be disconnected and tucked back into the main loom and wont cause running issues. My question is how do i cap off the vac lines. One line comes off the pump and goes into a “Y” then into the intake. The other part of the Y goes back towards a large harness on the Passengar side valve cover. How would I go about capping these off? I have an EFI injection so I didnt know if the second line would cause issues if it was disconnected as its a rather large harness. Thank you.

Picture one is the “Y”ed vac into the intake. The line on the Y thats closest to the front of the truck goes to the smog pump, and the other part of the Y goes to that wiring shown in picture two.

yes cap at intake on small ones and the valve cover one shoukd stay connected that's your pcv valve.(shoukd stay connected to suck vapors from crank case) If you don't want to run a pcv then replace it with a breather

Marine thank you for the reply. Im a little confused. Are you saying remove that entire thing and put a cap on the intake and a cap on the valve cover photo?

Here's a pic of pcv and how it works. Incorrectly set up crankcase ventilation can cause mysterious oil leaks. I linked a read about pcv to cwblacks oil leak problem early January I believe,see if you can find it and follow the pcv link.Search Oil leaks started by cwblack71 01/02/2023 post 38.

Transmission component should be left connected easiest would probably be to get a new pice of hose and go from that intake port to the electrical harness

Pcv should be left connected aswell
Pcv stands for positive crank ventilation
Pcv uses engine vacuum to put crank case under vacuum. This is done for many reasons but primarily to suck vapors from that area and burn them and keep crank case clear from water moisture

The line going to smog pump can be deleted

Thank you!!! I cut the line to the smog and capped.
