In search of a better ride and after weeks of research, I have decided to replace the current Rough Country EZ ride 4” lift with a set of custom built front and rear springs from Deaver. I thought I would share the experience with others as there seems to be a lot of questions about how to get the best ride. I am installing them next week and will add some before and after pictures and comments regarding the project.

That's an interesting traction bar. Seems like it would work well with stiff springs and less snubber clearance (for street use) but kinda pointless with soft springs with a lot of flex.

The Deaver springs arrive Monday and go on Tuesday and then off for a four day weekend to the Iola car show. Will have plenty of seat time to give an update next week

Well the shipment arrived on Monday but we forgot to include new u-bolts so I had to have some custom bent. Arrived Tuesday morning, shop guys struggled to get the old system off but was able to get the front leafs done so we could take it home with us tonight. The rears will get done next week when we get Bonack from the show.

So I was able to put about 50 miles on it tonight and the ride is definitely nicer up front, less hard hits back at yo7 w(en you hit the bumps. Rides like. A nice truck should rid while maintaining its lift. I will give more feedback after this weekend and after the rears are done.

This was a 4” lift replacing a 4” rough country lift. Measurements show that the front is about 1” less than the previous lift (whic( is what I was hoping for, still plenty of room for the 33’s and not too much wheel well showing.

Ok, I finally got the rears done and I am very happy with the results. This setup rides so much nicer and smooths out the bumps much better. It’s hard to put the comparison in words but what used to be sharp bumps and jolts just driving over speed bumps are now much closer to what you would feel if in a more modern truck. Overall, it dropped the lift front and back by 1” which is what I was looking for when I spec’d the system with Deaver. Pics to follow

Looks great! Do you happen to have any specs on the deaver springs such as length, spring rate? What's the ride height with them now? (ground to frame, or wheel well heights, or axle to frame).

Haven’t been on in awhile but I wanted to give a quick update. A month later and I am more and more impressed with the Deavers, a much smoother ride while maintaining the lifted look we wanted. Ground to wheel well is 41.25 inch’s. I don’t have the specs on the springs we just told them what we wanted and they delivered. A 3.5”lift with a smooth ride. If you want the specs feel free to call Deaver and ask them what the provided on the 86 GMC for Hasser. Expensive, as are most quality things but worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback

We have a 76 k10 shortbed that rides really rough and it’s a daily driver with efi and AC

A softer riding suspension is next on the list

You mind mentioning the ballpark price ?

Did you get new shocks too ?
