Found this truck with a bad transfer case. Looked for a used np208 and couldn’t find anything in my price range. Finally rebuilt it with a friends help. It needs a lot of TLC, has a few wiring issues and the single barrel carb has been replaced with a cheap foreign thing that won’t seem to adjust. Those are the next issues I’ll be working on. Thanks for all the good info.

Nice looking Jimmy from the photo. I had a 292 in a 1968 C10 and a 250 in a 1981 C10. I didn't know they were still around in '84. Good luck with the truck!

From what I have found online 84 was the last year for the 292 in the US. I’m a inline six fan so that’s what made me decide to pull the trigger. Have a 261 in a 61 Chevy that is my daily driver.

@dbush Tell us more about the truck - 4spd? Do you know the gear ratio?

Truck is a 4 speed, think it’s 4:11’s by the way it drives (pretty low geared). Picked it up 2 months ago it would hardly run and was stuck in 4 low. Ended up paying $1900. Whoever had put the carb on it left all the vacuum ports open and it was loose on the manifold. I would love to find an original carb to put on it (inexpensive). Rockers and quarter panels need fixed. It has some wiring issues with the lights I am currently chasing, getting closer all the time. Picked up a grill guard at the u pull it yard and put it on today. Had to switch to older style bumper so it would fit. Hopefully I can have it road worthy this winter and make it my daily driver.

Nice. All of the 4wd 292 trucks I've seen (not very many) have had 4.56's

Both are corporate axles so no tags. Pulling the cover would be the easiest way to be sure. The RPO sticker would have it too but you’ll be depending on the idea no one has messed with it for 40 years.
