I was confused too. it sounds like a conversion to me. highdesertranger

You and me both!! It was just my luck that I end up with something weird. It was advertised as a 76 or 77 Chevy truck, had a chevy grill, horn button, but said Sierra Grande on the passengers side dash. When I was looking it over to buy it however I fell in love with the big thing and bought it, even though I knew something was amiss with the rims on it...it is still neat. Then to find out it is a 76 GMC, then I was super glad I bought it!!

My Truck is slowly going through a sex change as well. Someone went through some effort to replace all the badges, steering wheel and tailgate trim with Chevy stuff. Even though HE is actually a GMC!

Good thing, only pussys drive chevrolets. Real strong men and eloquent ladies drive GMC. We dont want to mix with the rift raft

SRW 8 lug 16 tubeless rims are common they are aound also check on FB marketplace ppl post old rims lke these all the time, and hit up all the yards in your area, somewhere there are soem of these rims, my 75 C20 had old 16.5 splits on it when i got it two years ago, the rear oens were actually early 1960s 10" wide with three hub cap clips the old 40s and 50s style, they were ancient,, and with old bias py farm mudder tires on them that were flat for lot of years. i found two tubeless 16 rims for 40 bucks off a guy near here and two others for free. watch the center hub hole diamter, as alot of ford and doge ones will bolt on work fine but the hub hole is larger, chevy has the smallest diameter hub holes.. you really want to be hub centric not wheel stud-centric if you can help it... so weight stress is not fully on wheel studs only.. the guy i got the first two rims from said they were from a ford but they were smaller 4-3/8"" hub diameter,, so i dunno... i got lucky... i have two '80s factory ford F250 rims around here too and they are about 4-7/8" hub hole. i have one of them on the rear of my truck temporarily(i did have it on the front for a lil while first). the white rims are the factory GM small hub ones. thy gray is ford 80s larger hub hole one. and the last pics are of the old school 10 wide 16.5 1960s rims. the last pic is of a ford 80s wheel. the tape measuring pic iis a ford hub hole diameter, they re 4-7/8" GM hubs are about or almost 1/2" smaller diameter than alot of ford dodge IH etc. and this goes same for SRW and DRW. you can find factory 16 tubeless 8 bolt GM wheels they were dirt common and many are out there still. even go search a local scrap yard and tire shops. you will find many,. get creative.,

The ones I have been finding have a crap ton of rust, or they have tires mounted on them the people won't remove and I don't want to drive all over to pick stuff up.

Local yards did not have anything either. Sucks.

There, finally found some, and bought 6 of them. Now just to figure out what tire I should run on them.

Here they are.

I called up my alignment shop/tire place I use all the time, they are suggesting a 245 series tire to fit the 6.5" width rim the best, sidewall size I am not sure what to do, but if I asked they would probably come over to look at it for me.

$39-59 a piece powder coated up and shiny is a great deal!
6.5 width, yeah 245 tires is probably about the max without looking goofy.
Also consider what you can fit in back with the spacer.
I believe 235-85s were a popular size. Again depends on your clearance and how low the truck is.

Stock tires on many newer 3/4 ton trucks is 245/75R16E (10 ply rating). 235/85R16E is the next most common size, and it’s a little taller.

I ended up buying 5 wheels with tires at pick and pull for my ‘75 GMC, and then throwing away the tires, but they only charged $25 each. One advantage of pulling them myself is that I knew what model truck they came from.
