'61 Impala project

I came across this today, it's rough but workable. Hard to find these days too. Needs floors, quarters, rockers, etc. Other than being a roller, it's a very complete car. Located on highway 63, a little south of Ottumwa IA.

And I thought of you when I saw them too! There's only three of them though, the right rear has a rally wheel bolted up.

It looks like the car has been off the road for decades. It's an old Illinois plate, from the late 80's I think. The interior has been done in blue crushed velvet and a shag type carpet. So that gives a timeframe of the last restoration, lol.

Another big thing the car has going for it, no signs whatsoever of rodents. Interior and trunk were relatively clean.

I hope someone can give this car some love.

For a '61? I have one too, it was my grandpa's. Along with a partial NOS engine gasket set. And the original cam with a flat lobe, lol. Grandpa had a '61 station wagon when my dad was a kid. One night, with my dad in the car as a witness, he got in a street race on the way to the beer store and the cam went flat. He beat the Ford though!
I always liked that story.

Apparently the guy doesn't want to sell. I know a few people that have tried and he won't respond.

That's a shame. There's some goodies there.
