Take them heads to a shop that does heads, get them cleaned up and magna flux tested for cracks.
I believe, if it were Mine engine, I would send them injectors over to Blue Ox and have him test them, and, balance them while He is at it.
I have never seen brass like that caused from any kind of a stop leak substance. I`m thinking that someone created their own kind of a stop leak and dumped in plenty of the crap. I am also guessing that the reason they did that, and the new water/coolant pump, is because it could possibly been having cooling system issues.

There might be some residue in the heater core. If the glow plug relay failed, maybe starting fluid was used, head gaskets also failed then some "engine repair in a can" was used.

Did it come from CT? I remember seeing a quarry in RI, maybe I-95S

Gp system was operational, truck actually started great. The company I bought it from was the original owner, Canton Valley Construction. I cleaned the heads up a little today, I'm gonna bring the injectors to the shop near me on Monday, they do pop testing really cheap and if they have to rebuild/repair the injectors they waive the test fee. Once that's done I'm planning on having the heads decked and possibly fluxed, depending on the results of the injector test. If it comes back that the injectors were totally trashed then I'll run with that having been the issue for now, if they come back as functioning as they should, then I'll assume head or cylinder issues

If recon injectors will be required, be sure to take them to the shop and have them test and balance them. I dont remember what the pop pressure should be o these but, I know from reading that, some people have set the pop pressures higher and then they started having problems, especially starting issues, IIRC.

That engine really isn't worth putting money into. Does it have excessive blow by? I would question the claimed milage also. I have been in heavy construction all my life and believe me, any quarry truck I have ever seen had the crap beat out of it. I would find out good running engine and just swap it out.

Injectors will go to a shop if I end up using them, found a complete 6.5 takeout not far from me for pretty cheap, so I'm gonna whip the whole top end off it and slap in onto my block. The 6.5 don't run, probably a bad IP, bit I don't know for certain. Once I slap the heads on I'll compression check my engine and see what I have. I don't have any excessive blowby before I ripped it down, not was there excessive amount of oil/sludge in the intake. If it has good compression across the board I'll try starting it and see what happens. If it turns out my engines no good then I think I'll swap the top end back to the 6.5 and slap my db2 on it and see if I can make it into a running engine and swap the whole thing into my truck

I believe the mileage on my engine is accurate as they've owned it since it was new, and it was never put in the road much so I don't think it was driven too far. The place wasn't a quarry per se, it was some type of a construction company. Not sure what they did or where they worked at, I bought the truck out of their maintinence yard in an industrial park area

For some reason vehicles like that sometimes have a lot if hidden mileage on them in the form of idling. I have no idea why, but some people think it's bad to shut a diesel engine off. Or maybe they just wanted to keep the A/C cold. Not saying that's what happened here, but it is possible.

You're not wrong, an hour meter would be great to have here. There never was a PTO setup on this truck or any AC so there's not much reason to leave it running except exactly that, some people just refuse to shut them down lol. Even still though, excessive idling will usually leave you with wetstacking or washed/glazed cylinders, which I didn't see much evidence of in this thing. I'm still pretty confused on what exactly happened to it, so I've been slowly learning more towards trying to fix the 6.5 and swap it in. I'll comp check the 6.5 before I tear it down, and then pull the top end and see how it looks. I may just go straight for a swap honestly, though I had wanted to use the 6.2 due to the thicker block and it's lower mileage.

My 2011 Suburban has an hour meter... first vehicle I've ever owned that had one. It has 180,000 miles and 6300ish engine hours for whatever that is worth. Still plenty of power and no issues except a leaky rear main seal.

So I went and picked up a 6.5 yesterday that I found cheap, 95k miles for a few hundred dollars with everything on it. My plan was to rip the turbo setup and heads off it and slap them on my 6.2 and see what happens. One problem, the 6.5 has cracked prechambers. I know they're serviceable if it's not past the fire ring, but that's my question here, one or two are cracker to where the edge of the cylinder is, however the 6.5 head gaskets have an extended fire ring that bulges out on the bottom to cover the entirety of the prechamber surface with the fire ring steel. Is it still good if it's to the edge of the cylinder but still within that bulge on the gasket? There's a set of heads one town over for 300$ that were rebuilt and never ran, but I'm not really looking to spend more money here, if it'll go a year or two like this before it blows a head threw the fender or something cool like that then I'll be satisfied.
