Disassembled and checked out by local machine shop. Also have the crank. Would make a nice platform for a 496 build. Going a different route on my build. Asking $500

For a bare block? Dang that's kinda steep. I know it's desirable and certified to be in good shape, but man I can buy an entire running 4 bolt 454 for practically the same price...

Location i guess. I just bought a 427T running, and complete, with a brand new edlebrock on it for $400. But a budd of mine just paid $2800 for a rebuilt shortblock 454.

I'll give you 300 cash for the 427, delivered of course. Grin.

If you were closer i'd be all over that. it would cost as much as the asking price to ship it. Lol For a tall deck block that's been disassembled and checked over that's a steal around our parts. for comparison- When I built my 454, the machine shop offered me $500 and a good 2 bolt block to trade me out of my 4 bolt 454 block. I said i was probably going to build it bigger someday and i wouldn't give up the 4 bolt block to begin with. but i'd really like to build a stroker out of a 427 tall deck.

I'd like to have one simply so I could have those majestic numbers on the fenders. Tall deck or not, it would be cool.

I'm not in the market personally, my truck is a half ton and I generally treat it as such. I'm just saying, as great of an engine it is that you have, I just think that price may be a little high for a bare block. I wish you the best of luck selling, but wow that just seems like a lot of money for a hunk of iron to me.

It's been cleaned and magnafluxed already. That alone is pretty good insurance that it's an excellent builder. Your average motor home 454 pullout is always a gamble if it's been improperly stored over the winter and froze. Not to mention the average used 454 is going to have peanut port heads that literally have no value so it's sort of like buying a shortblock anyway.

I think its a fair price, especially if its still standard bore and will clean up with an appropriate bore.

Exactly, there's $400 of machine shop work alone. So I added $100 for scrap value of the bare block, and whala, $500!

I like my 366T.
Paid $600 running and fully dressed, recent overhaul.
As an everday setup, no racing.
