I wouldn't even consider one of the no-name or store brand HEIs. Or especially the over-hyped SW stuff. I mean, why on earth would you buy something dirt cheap, and then have to buy spare parts knowing it's going to fail?
Replacing internal distributor parts, especially away from home, is a lot more difficult than replacing a broken H-F tool with a spare.
Over the past 40 years, I have NEVER had a problem with GM, AC Delco, or MSD distributors. I put 100K + miles on several 70s-80s GM cars and trucks, and all I ever did was change HEI caps and rotors as preventive maintenance. My son's 69 pickup has had the same GM HEI with MSD internals since around 2002. In fact, I should probably change the cap and rotor! When it comes to electronics, made in Mexico or Taiwan is light years better than made in China by a low-bidder factory with no QA department.
On another note, a 3.73 axle, 1:1 4th gear, and 29" tires will make for a very busy engine at any speed above 60 mph. Been there done that with 3.42 gears and 27" tires (which works out to be nearly the same). But if you've been driving the truck with that gearing, you already know this.
