Speedmaster is a company name

I own a JEGS Street Spark distributor that is in my hot rod.

I own a Skip White unit that has become very popular with users within this MSB.
Matter of fact I have purchased THREE of them. Because they suck, they're ugly, and a crappy deal. AND Skip White customer service blows chunks...so I keep giving them money.

But hey, dowutchlike.

This was not sarcasm??
I REALLY feel like Sheldon Cooper now.......

I wouldn't even consider one of the no-name or store brand HEIs. Or especially the over-hyped SW stuff. I mean, why on earth would you buy something dirt cheap, and then have to buy spare parts knowing it's going to fail? Replacing internal distributor parts, especially away from home, is a lot more difficult than replacing a broken H-F tool with a spare.

Over the past 40 years, I have NEVER had a problem with GM, AC Delco, or MSD distributors. I put 100K + miles on several 70s-80s GM cars and trucks, and all I ever did was change HEI caps and rotors as preventive maintenance. My son's 69 pickup has had the same GM HEI with MSD internals since around 2002. In fact, I should probably change the cap and rotor! When it comes to electronics, made in Mexico or Taiwan is light years better than made in China by a low-bidder factory with no QA department.

On another note, a 3.73 axle, 1:1 4th gear, and 29" tires will make for a very busy engine at any speed above 60 mph. Been there done that with 3.42 gears and 27" tires (which works out to be nearly the same). But if you've been driving the truck with that gearing, you already know this.:)

I had a 79 Z28 that was set up like that.
It turned 'bout 1K rpms per 20mph.
#K @ 60mph had her whining pretty good.
Might have had smaller tires, can't remember.
Online calculators indicate I should do 75mph@3K rpms.
Ultimate goal is to have a T56 or maybe a stout 5 speed OD tranny...........
I'n mot gonna do much highway driving nohow...........

Among other odd character quirks, Sheldon cold not recognize sarcasm.
It is a recurring theme throughout the show's run....
Should you ever decide to sample the show, view episodes from the earlier years...
Its humor steadily declined in the past few now in its 12th season..........
