Picked up a set of 3rd row seats out of a Tahoe or one of the other badges. Got them for $40 from a guy who bought a storage unit. Time to make some brackets!

Depending on how familiar people may be with that rear seat I got, you may have noticed that the front cleats are high. That's the seat flipped forward position. All of my people, including my 6'2" wife, sat in the seat with the front elevated and said it was comfy. I think the front up and slight back lean to the seat made it seem like the legroom was nicer.

Went to the steel shop and picked up some scrap to build mounts out of. Initial plans were to do a picture frame mount, but I think I'll do a separate front and rear mount to make removal a little easier. I will post some pics when I get the mounts welded up.

Alright. $25 worth of scrap and the project is done. Here's the front mount:

It's 1.5" angle and 9/16" rod. The rods sit back 2.25" from the bolt holes in the floor and about 4" up off the floor. This allows for enough room for the seats to still fold forward behind the second row!

Fully welded and bolted in with washers.

Rear mounts were very simple. Welded up the whole bracket except for the cross bar. 1/2" rod was placed in the seat mounts and tack welded to the bracket so the spacing was right.

Had my boys test it again and it looks great. With the seats folded up there's about 4.5' from the seat to the closest part of the tailgate. Probably two feet with the seats down.

LOTS of legroom. Both my boys and the dogs have space back there.

I like it! Reminds me of when I did this mod to my 99 Tahoe a few years back. I had a very similar setup:waytogo:

Looks cool, and simple enough for someone with fab skills. The Tahoe seats must be different than the Burb/Yukon XL/Denali ones, because our '06 Denali was a one piece seat. Heavy sumbitch too....

I believe all the short wheelbase ones are split, but with GM, who knows?. Makes it WAY easier to get in and out.
