I forgot to mention, pre new cat it was a 330ppm at idle kind of stinker.

Now it is down to 39 with nothing else to help emissions.

So I believe the cat is a good thing to have in there to clean up the exhaust.
The exhaust note is still plenty noisy for a compliant vehicle.

Just dropped $1000 on parts to get this thing making cool air again.
As well as several other little things that needed to be replaced.
Like the radiator......again.
This will be the 4th radiator I have put into this thing since I have owned it over the last 19 years.

Hopefully this time it will last more than a handful of years.
I sprung for the fancy full aluminum one, no more plastic tanks.

I do like the fact that RockAuto.com offers kits for large projects where it makes sense to do all the parts together.
Here is the A/C kit that I bought for it.

It includes all this stuff and they tell you what else you will need to complete the project at the bottom of the list. I find that super helpful.

The refreshed rear is all done once again!
To the tune of $1148 this time.
Now to get over and pick it up so the reinstallation fun can begin.

@Maxwellvis has it in his head that he wants to install a set of 3/4 ton rear leaf springs under it.
The reasoning being it will give the rear a modest 1.5 to 2 inch lift.
Then we can turn the front torsion bars up to match in the front.

That's a great deal. I just lost the rear spiders in my '07 Tahoe Gov Bomb unit and I was thinking of going with that Trutrac, glad I didn't!!!!! I went with the Auburn L/S. I got whacked for $2500 clams but you saved a bit on labor there. I didn't have time to dick around with it slaving away at 70 hours a week at work. And I'm getting old and fat and tired of laying on my back on the ground too lol.

Luckily I have a 19 year old that loves a chance to wrench on a car.
I am happy to finance the projects when he wants to do the work for me.

You a lucky man. I have 2 girls. One was my little hard core wrenching buddy until she turned 18 and got married and took off on me.

Here is a video of the cold start weirdness that the Sub has done randomly for the last couple of years....
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
There are some sharp TBI brains in here and I am not sure what to look at to fix this issue. Luckily Max recognized the issue this morning when he went to take his sister to school and called me out to have a look at it.

After the issue clears up at around 45 seconds of idling like it has a hot rod cam in it, it takes off and runs just fine. No miss, no bog, hitting on all 8 like nothing ever happened....

We changed out the cheap coolant temp sensor for an new original Delco part.
Then Max checked to see if it was throwing a code.
Yup.
Code 33....

He removed the air cleaner and sure enough the vacuum line to the MAP sensor had popped off the nipple.

Reinstalled it and all issues were gone.
I ordered a kit from Amazon that has several sizes of silicone vac hose in it as well as new clamps and stuff.

We will be replacing all the vac lines on the engine as they all most likely have 230k miles on them.

It has been back up and running like clockwork since the fix the other day.

We were at the junkyard over Memorial day weekend when they have a sale.
Sadly it is now only 40% off parts from the yard, not the 50% it had always been before.

But we spotted this and had to have it.

Max is holding it in place.
Not sure if my wife is going to OK the installation or not so it is in storage for now.

I also found a couple of the Vortec truck K&N filters as well as a 14 x 4 K&N that will go under the hood of the truck.

The Lund visor was not listed in their computer.
So I asked if $15 was a good price, she said yup.
I got 40% off of that as well for just under $10 out the door for the visor.

Score from marketplace.
Max saw this for sale and sent it to me for review.

I told him to reach out and see if it was still available.
Yes it was.
I gave him the cash and sent him off to fetch it.

What we have is an Edelbrock Performer TBI intake and a TBI unit off of a 350 truck.
Guy was trying to install the system on his 1965 Impala and could not get it to operate correct.
On went the carb and this stuff is mine now for the low sum of $100.

New the manifold itself is $500 not including all the stuff that is bolted to it.
The TBI will be strapped to the Suburban right away as it has been hiccupping occasionally.

Later on we will be putting the manifold on there as well.
If it fits, the new looking EGR will get strapped onto Der Burgers Camaro.
