So I'll be revisiting this bucket o bolts this weekend, clocking ring arrives Thursday, so I'll be working on setting up my front driveline.
The national forest opened up yesterday, which means everyday the s10 isn't done, is a day I missed abusing it on the trails.
Turns out everybody that was gonna wheel with me isn't even ready anyway.
So the last issues I have to correct :
Braking.
Pedal is still spongy asf, even with a brand new 1/2 ton cylinder... No go, I tried a 94 k3500 MC, no luck, didn't fit.
What I have learned is, a 92 c3500 mc will fit, as well as a 88 chevy caprice wagon master MC will work as well... The wagon master will evidently push the fluid alot faster to the tires... I'll figure out one or the other, move on.
Now... Onto addressing why a brand new 1/2 ton mc just falls to the floor, and barely stops the truck.... It occurred to me today... After bleeding the 4 corners for 30 min.... I had very low, but ****** pressure as all 4 corners..... Never very heavy pressure... And when I STOOD on the brakes, 1 back tire would kinda lock up in slick terrain.....
IT'S THE ABS UNIT!
I bet ANYTHING it's got air in it, and without the proper equipment, it'll never bleed... Has valves and **** in it I can't bleed without a high tech scan tool.
Regardless... Abs never worked right anyway, and I certainly don't need it on this rig.
So I'm just gonna bypass it.....
Next issue was the hot rodded ps pump that liked to splash out everywhere when I hit bumps.... I modified the metal clip on it to seal tighter... Issue should be solved.. Screws on nice and tight now.
Correct me someone if I'm wrong, but I should be able to bypass the abs, run the front wheel lines to the proportioning valve, and that'll fix the issue with the front brakes not even trying to grab... Correct?
The overall system not having enough pressure is due to the 1/2 ton mc just not producing enough pressure.
