so start it up, remove fuse and then keep it out of the donor forever? and how can you tell if it worked, if the truck starts again i assume? haha

it should crank back up in the donor vehicle with the fuse pulled and the bmc wires disconnected without having to do the 30 minute relearn. or it'll crank your motor up in your truck. on the wiring there are 2 wires you can hook up, and have a stand alone harness. just keep the fuse block out of the donor. bypass vats first though of course.just saved you some more money on a harness
no sense in paying someone else to do it if you have access to EVERYTHING

You will need to change out the Frame mounts. The V6 ones are different than the V8 mounts.

Let me look for a pic....i found these on Ebay for $100.

They bolt to the frame and then your engine (motor mounts) bolts to them.

Isnt that what these mounts i boyght are for? I thought the 4.8 mounts stayed where they were on the engine then these went from the mounts to the frame?

The mounts you bought bolt to the frame stands. The V6 and V8 frame stands are different, so you will need V8 frame stands to bolt up the dirty dingo mounts.

I believe that is correct, but I'm not 100%.

Was just out digging through the shed... Thought i might of had a set off a 79 k5 blazer i had for parts... Could only find the motor mounts, just looking at the v6 and v8 mounts they look identical from what i could see, you sure they wont bolt up? Oh yeah.. And a few pics

pics of the 87 chevy r10 SWB with 4.3 tbi , the 350 4bolt main i had planned to convert to tbi but lost interest, my 2000 chevy silverado 1500 4.8 vortec i have for a donor truck(74k miles), the interior of the 87- leather buckets seats that were in the garage.. not sure what they came out of.. the motor mounts for the 79 350, which are a 3 bolt design which looks very close to those on the 4.3

They may work, it's worth a shot. I think they may be bolted to a different location on the crossmember though.

in the mean time I'm still looking for a set of frame mounts... having a hard time locating any online for sale.. don't see anything on eBay, hoping i can find a set local before my parts arrive but these trucks are getting scarce now.
