I'm with @bucket he got my old 79 camaro and he has done some, and I got a 79 trans am later and I haven't done much. I cleaned alot of parts, painted them, ordered some, started on fixing the floors and torque box and then got side tracked. Mines still sitting on it's side in the garage where it's been for over a year.

Alot of work in a short time, and dangit I want a big block chevy!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the donor that the big block came out of. I was very lucky to get the donor for free. It ran and drove fine but rats got in cab and ate lots of wires. Wasn't worth saving.

Looks to be an EFI GMt400. What did you have to replace to use in the Z?
Intake, distributor, add a carb...

Nice. You know you have a big block when a jack stand is needed in front of the engine stand.

I ordered everything I need to finish the car mechanically on Thursday. The exhaust system and subframe connectors showed up yesterday so I got the passenger side subframe connector in and the passenger side tail pipe.

What brand is the exhaust?

I was also wondering, if going with fuel injection, why not just keep the factory multi port setup that was already on the engine?

The exhaust is a kit from summit and I'm going to use magnaflow mufflers.
As far as the efi goes, I just didn't want that appearance. The fitech system is very simple, I can hide the wires and with the air cleaner on it will appear to be carbureted.

I always liked the look of the Vortec 7.4 intake. It must just be me, because everytime someone swaps in a gen 6, they ditch the EFI, lol.
