also, have desided to keep the tbi and the computer, the only reason i was agaisnt it was because i wasnt sure how i was gping to get the wiring harness to match up and look good. but i found a harness that will conect to the 95 system and to the 73 cab and look like it belongs. will continue to post updates as they come and i thikn i will start a build thread and post alot more if you all want to follow along

Smart Move !!! :waytogo: While most like to get away from the computers, many of us here realize they serve a good purpose if you're willing to take the time and patience to learn them.
As far as the harness, if you can't do it yourself, we have a few guys here, you can mail both harnesses to them and they'll take out what you don't need, and modify your 73 harness to work and look just like it was made that way. Pops has done it, Foamy has done it, and pretty Jims86 has done it or can do it. Being a 4x4, you're getting away from the carb too. Carbs don't like off roading much when you start hitting the steep inclines.

I know this may be a big question but does anyone have a detailed step by step instructions on how to combine the 95 and 73 harness?

IF anyone would be so kind as to share one if they do i would be very thankful

Or foamy. He just did his truck not long ago, and had a few pics of how what he did, but being it all looked like spaghetti, they might not be of much help. Might be easier just to ship the harnesses to one of these guys, let them work it over and ship it back. Not sure what they charge. I know Pops charged a fee for the one or 2 he did, but it was a real nice harness when done. Better than and much cheaper than PainInTheWallet Wiring could have done.

With something as old as the 73, and since he has it all torn apart, the 95 harness can be installed, along with the fuse box from the 95. there really is no guessing by doing it this way. you would use the thru-wall cavities.
he only thing you really need to wire in, is the Vehicle speed sensor(VSS) to work with the 73 speedo, you can use the inline sensor, that also accepts the speedo cabl. Or, you could possibly get a 91 cluster, and do away with the cable all together. The coolant sender, and oil pressure senders on the 95 engine will run your 73 gauges.
Combining the two harnesses is useless in this case really, and would be a bigger mess.
And the nice thing about the 95 harness, is that it is longer than an 87-91 harness, which allows you more flexibility on hiding the harness, and PCM location.
