I do not believe that bumper is factory. The one on my '61 looked like a closer match to the front. I dont believe it is an aftermarket bumper, maybe a bumper off something else.

Prolly right, Its still cool looking I think! Kinda looks as old as the truck lol

Right now it has the "3 on the tree" configuration for the trans...though no trans in it. Any way I could go about putting a regular PNRD3.....shifter in there if I wanted an automatic?

As far as stance I'd definitely go the 15x8 rally wheel route but then lower it with a good 2/4 drop but that's just me. I can't argue against keeping it stock height either :)

As far the body goes do it right the first time and with taking care of the surface rust on the frame an everything and have it media blasted to expose all rot and bad spots and go from there :)

I'm really excited about this project :)

I like this one!

I'd say leave the stance alone, just bolt on a set of 15x8 6-lug rallies with a meaty tire (255/70 maybe). Then drop in a 327 with a 700r4. Yeah 327's are harder to find now, but it would just be "right" in this case. Then drive the heck out of it for a while, you may like it enough to just leave the body alone.

Thanks for the suggestions, definetely sounds like 15x8 is the way to go lol. I think the rallies in that size in the book are like $250 each? lol. idk.

And 327...Why not? It would be cool....otherwise I'll rebuild a 350 like I did for the 85. and that 85 purrs...

Me too! My wife shook her head when I backed it in the drive...She thinks its hideous. My dad told her how rare they are and she still didnt care. I figured it was cause it was alittle beat up, but I showed her a pic on google of one that had been restored and she just doesnt like the body style. I dont get it but oh well. I think its ****** beautiful. The short bed, the spare tire in the bed, it all works for me. Love it

Yeah....women are wierd. My wife mainly only likes new stuff other than 1st gen camaro and 1st gen stangs. She likes my truck but I couldn't pay her to drive a square burb  she doesn't even like the 88-98 trucks really but likes my 77 and the newer trucks. They just see stuff different I guess

Yeah, since I totalled the 01, she drives the 85 to work and back just for a few hours a day while I roll the burban when I watch my baby girl. She likes the 85 but feels "unsafe" in it cause no airbags. I understand that...but that truck is freakin sound man, I mea it has all the insulation and upholstery, and weatherstripping unlike driving a 65 lol. The 86 is almost as nice as a new truck....I never feel unsafe in it.

Ouch...

I won't let mine get anything newer than 1996...Too many black boxes in them that I don't know what they do. She wanted one of those aftermarket OnStar systems for the van and Blazer and I said NO.

She's not really on board with a squarebody...One reason I don't have one yet...

Well I know when I wrecked my first 2001, I went to get my stuff out of it at the wrecker yard and the seats were ALL ****** up. DPS had come and pulled the black boxes out of them. They record the last 15 seconds before a crash. Anthing youdid, acceleraed, brakes, blinker, whatever. Records speed and all that. Big Brother type ****

I don't think you'll have great success at scoring a steering column for an auto, might just take the stick off the column and put a B&M floor shift in it.
