Is there a way to install a 81-87 bumper on a 73-80 frame

Getting close to ordering bumpers for my project and I pulled a front off a 87 truck I have here for parts to find it will not bolt up. Any solutions that do not require chopping the horns? Will a 76-80 bumper fit the front clip of a 85/6?

    Another Oil Pressure Question

Ground strap everything- Battery to frame, frame to motor, motor to firewall, frame to cab, frame to bed, etc. Jumping around kinda indicates a loose ground.

Adding Air Conditioning in the South

Vintage air and install yourself. It can be done in a weekend if you are comfortable taking your interior apart. Still have to run the AC lines and install the compressor on this one.

    1985 K10 6.2- won’t turn over

So this has been sitting soaking since Saturday. Still no move forward-reverse hand/strap wrench/breaker. Going to let it sit a while until I get my blue project to the point of dropping off at shops for exhaust and such. Also, going to file for a bonded title for it before spending any...

    1985 K10 6.2- won’t turn over

I did this since the glow plugs were out. Made a filler setup from a paint gun cleaner bottle and tubing. Got a good bit of the mix in each one. Currently cleaning our pool and need to get back on my blue project so will let it sit a day or two. Also- the comment about the power source...

    1985 K10 6.2- won’t turn over

I pulled the glow plugs out and tried. Its locked up or something else odd. The starter pushes but then when you let off it goes back. I cannot turn it with a breaker bar either. This is with the glow plugs out so there shouldnt be any compression.

    1985 K10 6.2- won’t turn over

lol so would that not fix the issue of them not coming out? This is actually my second 85 6.2. I pulled and gave the last one away but figured it might be worth a turn before we bust out the wrenches as short of the wrong color hood/fender it’s a complete original truck that doesn’t look like...

    1985 K10 6.2- won’t turn over

So I noticed this on the marketplace yesterday and I was working on the pool so I scooted over to pick it up. It’s a K10 with 6.2 engine. For what I paid I didn’t even pull the dipstick or even ask if it ran because I bought it for parts (bed, frame for a future project and small bits for my...

Moved to FB 1987 C20 parts truck. Near Fort Worth

Corners are in easily fixable condition, drivers floor is pretty much flintstone level. I’ll snap photos tomorrow. Frame is straight- no issues that I’ve noticed. Wiring harness is in place and I haven’t noticed anything cut vs unplugged.

Moved to FB 1987 C20 parts truck. Near Fort Worth

ETA- moved to FB ETA- this isn’t a part out. You have to take it all or nothing. I picked this up for parts here and the and nuts/bolts. It was a brown truck but was painted white at some point but overall that doesn’t really matter. Basically I’m done with it and my wife is on me about...

1983 K10 saddle tank replacement with in frame tank

I get it, we all have different ways of going about it and the results are generally the same. The current problem with your tank is it’s a fixed turned neck tank forcing you to go to the passenger side with a possible ability to flip it around and go drivers. There is a thread/ vid here...

Adding 4WD, where does the shifter go?

If it has a high himp already you should see an indentation. If you have a low hump you will need to get hands on a high hump and go for it. There is an aftermarket unit on fleabay but you can probably junkyard one also. The standard trucks had high humps in 2WD also

1983 K10 saddle tank replacement with in frame tank

Quality cost money…. The blazer tank I’m using from TanksInc has a price tag around the 7’s. Luckily I got it for a smoking deal in the summit outlet. I think I’m in it 2 or less and it came with the fuel pump. If I was in the market at this moment I would go with the Boyd’s. If I had to...

1983 K10 saddle tank replacement with in frame tank

My suggestion would be through the bed floor on a stepside. You may be able to run a hose all the way up to the filler though. On my project I brought in a LS Fab tail light filler setup but I am using a fleetside bed.

1983 K10 saddle tank replacement with in frame tank

There are a few options. Blazer tank, suburban tank, or a Boyds unit which is a very nice unit and doesn't need a bunch of messing about to install where the first two options will need some crossmembers pulled/moved.

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

I have a folder going for this one the same as my other 86 I’ve done this to. Make notes on each drawing and have them all in a folder.

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

Update on the Vintage Air side of things: I am using a painless AC/Fan relay setup. It has 3 relays to work through the operation. I think 2 turn on a fan each off the thermal connection and the third turns on a single fan when the AC is activated. I ran and connected the wires from...

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

LOL yeah. I was trying to simply pull a smidge more of the harness from under the dash into the engine bay and its tight. even in place I am not sure I could get a wrench on the nuts. Either way its a very cool product for the purpose.

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

Progress today- a little electrical, a little mechanical, and some body to frame grounding. Working on the electrical under the hood. Just getting stuff where it goes etc. Ran the power cable from the alternator to the battery mega fuse setup. It shows it a bit different on the diagram...

    factory bumper carriage bolts?

+1 on 1/2x13. Even the 87 I have here for parts is that where a LOT of the bolts are metric on that year truck.

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

A smidge of an update before moving from inside the cab to outside. The TCI unit needs power “directly from battery”. I get why they do this but no way I’m having #18 wires running un fused. It has a fuse on the harness but it’s at the Tci controller connector. So on the AA harness it has a...

    Door Hinges for 87

Rebuilds never seem to last no matter how much care I put into doing it. On my current project I had a choice of several to pull/rebuild or go new. I went new and so far its been a good decision but we are still in the building process.

Dakota Digital install with American Autowire harness- ETA adding TCI 4L60E control to the install

Took the wife to a flick yesterday and then worked my way across the cab trying to wrap up the internal wiring. Trying to Find a good spot for the TCU. The gas pedal bracket would allow 2 bolts. Also maybe on the backside of the dash face- going to leave it loose for now. Installed the...
