Is there a way to install a 81-87 bumper on a 73-80 frame

Getting close to ordering bumpers for my project and I pulled a front off a 87 truck I have here for parts to find it will not bolt up. Any solutions that do not require chopping the horns? Will a 76-80 bumper fit the front clip of a 85/6?

There is. Exactly what the dumb$#it's did to mine before I got it. But mine could be from a 400.

Bird$#it weld. I think I would replot holes and bolt it on.

I have an appropriate utility bumper in the parts pile for it. The day I feel like being showered in grinder sparks, it will go on.

Edit - aw hell, I'm talking about a rear bumper. Nevermind

The frame horns are made different 73-80 & 81-91. The diagonal brace from the frame to the bumper is the biggest difference. 73-80 have only one bolt on each end whereas 81-91 have 2 on each. The end of the bumper will be extremely close to the fender when mounting a newer bumper on a 73-80 also.

I’ve been poking at it just seeing if I can non destructively do it. Looks like I will be running a 78-80 style bumper.

The 73-80 bumpers look way better anyway!!! JMO. I have 73-80 style on my 86. But my frame is 79.
