    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

My truck gets 9.5 MPG. 350, 350 combo with 3.08's and 32" tires. Thats mainly driving on side streets. I do drive a few miles on the freeway maybe 20 miles a week.

Lost Two Gen 3 LS Engines in my 1986 C10 2WD

Was the 5.3 an AFM, DOD engine? If so, the lifters might be stuck in the collapsed condition.

Trumps tariffs game might fix some of this crap.

    Need AC help!

I would suspect the controller. The switch maybe bad. The only other thing I would guess at is there is a short in the wiring harness putting power to the AC compressor connecter. I would unplug the connector and get a voltmeter, or test light and trouble shoot from there. Move the switch to...

1987 Blazer Front Suspension Upgrade, Springs, Bushings, Hangers, Steering Box/Shaft

Thanks for your response. I have thought about welding a washer to the damaged mount. I have replaced all the bushings with the ORD greaseable type and used their shackles. I have been driving the truck for over a year. It just sits uneven in the front. Only the drive side mount had any damage...

    backfire under wide open throttle

It could be running lean. The added air just makes the problem worse. Does it clear up once more fuel flows into the carb?

Best place to hook up vacuum gauge on Edelbrock carb (permanent and temporary)

I connected my gauge to the vacuum line running to the HVAC controller.

Skool me on timing w/o timing tab

You have to be careful where you install the timing tab. I put one on my truck when I rebuilt the top end. I put it on the new timing cover over to the right side. Wrong the original was on top behind the water pump. I'm guessing it was the one with the site tube. I had to replace the cover due...

1987 Blazer Front Suspension Upgrade, Springs, Bushings, Hangers, Steering Box/Shaft

Nice write up and pics. I need to replace my front springs front hangers. The bolt hole is egg shaped from the previous worn-out bushings. Did you replace those or just the front back hangers. It looks like a pain in the azz to cut all the rivets. I have the ORD FUSH brackets. I figured I...

    Leaf Spring Torque

I had the front leaf spring U-bolts loosen up and the front end would make a horrible popping sound when turning a tight corner at slow speeds. I just tightened them back as tight as I could get them. 3 years later no problem. I vote for replacing them if it makes you feel better. I think they...

Accel HEI Super Coil (140003) Magic or Trash

I had a fairly new Accel dizzy fail. I think it was the pick up. I replaced it with a FAST brand. It's been good for 2 years.

    5.7 Vortec and TBI

I'm running a Jeg's intake on my truck. It's a decent piece. I'm sure the prices have gone up. It would still be cheaper then an Edelbrock.

    Summit Brand Headers???

I have the ceramic coated ones on my 85 K-10. The coating is not the best. The headers themselves are not bad quality. I don't have the bars that run from the trans bell housing to the motor mounts. If you have those still on the truck, I'm not sure of the fit. Notice the frame butchery on the...

Clean old truck. Good luck on the project.

Update on my Ignition Module failure!

I would get rid of the modules and run an MSD box. The kit costs about what the GM dizzy costs. No more module's, better spark power, and a built-in rev limiter. You can even connect an adjustable timing module and change the timing from the cab. I learned my lesson years ago with my 79 Big 10...

    Dual tank reads backwards

I would think that the wiring going to the new switch is backwards, (reversed), or the wiring going to the valve is wrong. It could be someone replaced the parts in the past and got it wrong. I would switch the wiring at the switch to see if it corrects the problem. The good thing is that the...

    Gas in Oil!?

It's normal for the carb and the feed lines to go empty after several days. The new gasoline evaporates very quickly. It is engineered for modern fuel injection engines and emissions. My truck does the same thing. You have to fill the fuel bowls on the carb before it will start. If it sits for...

    Pumping Air to a Catalyst

I never thought about it that way. I guess I'll check some shops and find out how much it will cost to add them.

    1968 327 in a 75 stepside

I would think that your head gasket is bad at best case, or the head is warped worst case for water to get into the cylinder. You can check the deck of the block and the head surface with a machinist ruler.

    Pumping Air to a Catalyst

The cats not lighting off is what I'm worried about. The air pump is out of a LS1 Camaro. Looking at my exhaust the driver's side cat would go in the stock factory location. The pass side about the same distance back. Mounting the cats off the header collectors is not an option. The pipes make...

    Pumping Air to a Catalyst

I want to install cats on my 85 truck. It has headers and dual exhaust. The cats will have to be mounted far back in the system. The stock air pump brackets, fittings etc. are long gone. I would like to go back with them, but they are hard to find. I have an electric pump from a car that I think...

    Lifter tick?

They are inherently noisy. I have a tick on my 85. It has retrofit rollers and a mild GM cam. The noise has been there since day one of the install. I also have had real noisy lifters from Comp Cams on one of my LS builds. I would check them and move on.

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced the driver's side header gasket. It had been bad for a while. The truck sounds so much better now.

1976 Chevyvan G30 stiff accelerator pedal

My throttle pedal is also a workout for my right leg. On my application I think it's the angle the cable is in to reach the carb.
