    Is a 85 700r4 ok?

I'm now at 289K on a very early '84 that I bought new when I was 20 years old. It has always thrown off very little clutch material in the 1/2 dozen times I've had the pan down. Lost the converter lock up a few years ago, and that typically killed the very early transmissions (I think it was...

1981 Motorhome - Whats under its... err.. tunnel?

I was assuming a Class A, Chevy powered this whole time. The thought of a class C hadn't crossed my mind or the idea of a Dodge class A or C. IIRC Dodge exited the class A business when the 440 went out of production. IIRC, Ford jumped in and out of the class A business too, but in the later...

Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

Oh, the saga of the A-Body... My recollection of the A-Body starts with the intermediate (Chevelle, LeMans, F85, Special/Skylark) as the RWD cars with frames for 1964. This lasted until 1982, when the RWD A-Bodies were renamed G-Bodies. The 1982 A-Bodies were the new, FWD cars (Celebrity, 6000...

Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

You are welcome! B bodies were RWD Caprice/Impala, Catalina/Bonneville (except 82 and later), Delta 88 and LeSabre. The C bodies were RWD (through '84) Olds 98, Buick Electra/Park Avenue and Cadillac DeVille.

Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

As a B-body guy, I'm still excited to see what the OP has, but the original choices are not good. Base is the 3.8L (231) Buick V6, with electronically controlled Dualajet. There is the optional 4.1L (252) Buick V6 with electronically controlled Quadrajet. This one blows head gaskets. The V8...

1981 Motorhome - Whats under its... err.. tunnel?

Typically a Turbo 400. Don't know how you would identify a Turbo 475, since the difference is internal. Never seen one myself (or heard one, I suspect they have a howl to them).

    Old Delco 2700 "ETR"

I can do this stuff, but seem to lack the motivation to get it set up on the bench (lacking space, coffee table and dining table set ups). If I use the 'new' one, I may have to add the aux input. I've added them to all our cars

    Old Delco 2700 "ETR"

I think this is the same family, I had never found one that was fully functional until today. It is a 1982 with a repair tag from 1987. I can cut the long, plastic mounting ears to use in my truck (AFAIK, if I decide the swap out the newer analog Delco). I should have taken a picture of it in...

White strap under gauge cluster on 74

I don't recognize it, but it sure appears to be a fiber optic light source for the wiper switch. The end you are holding would plug into the light source. Here is a much later style GM unit. The end is sticking up in front of the vent.

    88 Caprice Classic Wagon

I learned something new. I thought sure they stayed that way until the body change. Early 307s even had belt driven vacuum pumps to run accessories and brakes, so I'm really surprised.

    88 Caprice Classic Wagon

They are plenty durable in this late form, the 307 even has a roller cam, just rather anemic. GM even claimed the wagons had a 5000lb tow rating when properly equipped, IIRC. I've never heard an official reason, but I can only assume that this anomaly was justified to keep the Olds V8 in...

    88 Caprice Classic Wagon

It should be a 200R4. No BOP bolt pattern 700R4. When the B wagons went to the Olds 307 in early '86, no more Chevy powered wagons or 700s until the new body.

85 C20 LWB eight lug bolt pattern compatible late model chevy

No fitment issues on my 2WD at all. My C20 does have HD brakes. I've got tires on it now (LT225 75 R16, IIRC) that are within 1% of the original 8.75/16.5 tires.
