by that time all squares had antennas built into the windshield. It's already been said a few times, but that wire is a constant hot for memory.Could those wires be for a power antenna?
Had the same issue with mine. There is a radio shop close to me that had to resolder all the connections.Is anybody actually good at fixing these things and maybe adding some updates? Even an Aux connector would be good enough to add some capability.
I still have the one from my Suburban, and it was working fine except the screen was a little flakey. If you pushed on it, it would display properly. Other times it is was hieroglyphics.
