You are welcome!

B bodies were RWD Caprice/Impala, Catalina/Bonneville (except 82 and later), Delta 88 and LeSabre.
The C bodies were RWD (through '84) Olds 98, Buick Electra/Park Avenue and Cadillac DeVille.

If i could ask, to check my interweb reading? A and B bodies were similar back in the 50's when all this started, so they dropped the A, making most cars B, except for the sure enough old big boats, which were givin C? Then when the Chevelle and similar cars, came out they picked the A back up, making the old Sprint an A body?

Oh, the saga of the A-Body...
My recollection of the A-Body starts with the intermediate (Chevelle, LeMans, F85, Special/Skylark) as the RWD cars with frames for 1964. This lasted until 1982, when the RWD A-Bodies were renamed G-Bodies. The 1982 A-Bodies were the new, FWD cars (Celebrity, 6000, Cutlass Ciera, Century). The last of these A-Bodies were last built in 1996. The designation has not been used since.

That is why I asked, don't recall seeing the G body in the article?? Not that it matters, sure I'll never have any interest in a FWD car.

Thanks!!

I have a 1999 aurora... it, with a buick riviera.. is the g PLATFORM not to be confused with g body, which also had its own changes. just to make it confusing :)

i have a 1975 grand am, its basically a lemans which is a body
here is my electra engine bay with a Small block buick, your lesabre should have a similar engine bay considering the front end appears the same/very similar

Thanks!! I can see i have no reason to know exactly what body or platform a car is. Now when it is brought up, I will at least have a general idea of what is being spoken of. Now, I just need to decide whether or not I'm going to buy the damn thing???? lol

Nope, talked to him a while ago and going to see about looking at it next week. Good things, first being the engine is a V 8, other than that he has no idea, second he said to let him know the day before I was coming and would drive it to work. Cause I'll be in town during buisness hours. So, it does run and drive.

Verify engine and transmission.I'm betting its got Old's motor probably 307.with any luck it will have a uni pattern th350 which will accept buick, old's,pontiac or chevrolet. Frame mounts, clam shells and exhaust from an 83/84 full size pontiac with a 305 should get you going, the same parts from the same era Caprice/Impala should get you going. If you can't come up with that stuff, I know another way.Harder to do, but you do what you have to.Check the angle your transmission is sitting at in the car.No frame mounts on the frame but whatever SBC clam shells and frame mounts you have bolted to the engine set the engine and transmission in the bay, bolt the tail shaft to the cross member this sets your front to rear location. Check transmission angle is it close? Can you lower the cross member or raise the tailshaft to get it close if so tack the frame mounts down unbolt the clam shells from the frame mounts and drill bolt holes now bolt it together and wire it up.I skipped a bunch of common sense stuff. More questions? Just ask. If you can't get the driveline angle close get back to me for more options.

FWIW if it is a 307 old's a 455 old's bolts right in and would be way more fun

It could always be buick, too.
You should ask the guy to send you a pic of the engine bay just so you can research,

Hell, even the vin. If its original the vin will tell you engine and trans.

All you need is a BOP bell housing to mate a manual trans up. The clutch pedal may work and may not, the frame needs the ball on it. But, it can be done - I had a friend who had a Rivera who put a 4 speed in it and he tried to race it(The 5 piece driveshaft is not a racer's friend). I have seen Cadillacs with manual trans fitted in and also Caddy engines in trucks - it can be done

Well, some peoples children?? Seller wouldn't answer a phone call so thru text, we visited a little about it, came to a price, depending on me seeing it. Every time I asked about the title, crickets, he disappears? So, plan on going to see the car tomorrow and call him out about the title, he tells me I can't read?????

Dang....I've got to learn about all this a body, b body stuff?? It is a auto trans, no idea what engine yet, may find out tomorrow?? From what I've been able to find out, it could be the v 6, the 350 Buick, 307 Pontiac/Buick (Ive no idea why the letters got fat??) Or the 403..... Was hunting a 2 door Caprice for the roundy round car.... but the kid is afoot and figure this may kill 2 birds???

You must have accidentally hit Ctrl while trying to hit shift for the capital B. Hitting Ctrl and B makes bold letters. Ctrl and I makes italic letters. Ctrl and U make underlined letters.
