    After adjusting the timing, did You disconnect the neg battery cable for a while ? It will have to go through a learning procedure after starting it again.

    Add some oil to that cylinder then redo the compression test and see if the compression comes up. If it does then it will be the rings, if not then suspect a valve job is in order.

    If it is not a four wheel drive truck, why not just remove the oil cooler adapter. A lot less chance of having oil leakage that way.

    You beat Me tooooit. My new to Me truck had the same problem. Parts and brake cleaner would`nt even touch it. Mixed Me up some vinegar and water, applied the mix with a rag and used newspapers to dry it with. Came out squeaky clean.

    I believe that the 93 was the first year of the 4L60E transmission. Same as the 700R4 except of the E stands for electronically controlled, instead of a cable like the 700R4.     How many times does the transmission shift when driving, if You get five shifts, then it is a 700R4 as the torque convertor will also lock in and seem like another gear. If You get three shifts, it would then be a TH350 or TH400. i`m not sure when they started with the 700R4, but to My thinking...
