    U Joint/Driveshaft, How Screwed am I?

Doing the rear driveshaft u joints, the one at the differential. I'm using a press tool (giant c clamp, not a hydraulic press). I go to press the u joint out, and it fights me a bit, but in the end it goes through. I remove the opposite cap and proceed to press it back to remove the opposing...

    Speakers for Stock HU

I'll chirp in here, here's what I've got planned, and almost finished: - keeping original Delco am/fm/cassette for stock look and not cutting dash - running the delco's speaker outputs to a "speaker to line-level converter" which takes the high-level speaker signal and brings it down to a pair...

Suburban stock spare tire location tire size

Well, that hadn't crossed my mind... I guess I'll find out when I try and fit that 3rd row in within the next month or so. Is it a clearance issue with the arm rest of that third row?

Suburban stock spare tire location tire size

Got the spare tire mounted and balanced. Here is a 285/75/R16 tire that just barely fits. It doesn't touch the bottom, it's just kind of wedged in there, and on a bit of an angle, but it's sturdy and not going anywhere.

GM Floor mats: NOS or used

I'm looking for a pair of gm floor mats for my vehicle with the saddle interior. How difficult are these to find? They don't have to be perfect, but it would be nice to find the original gm ones. Is there a place I should be looking? Where's a good place to find nos gm stuff?

Relays present/main wiring on TBI systems

Thanks chengny! You are the best! For the relay part, I meant there isn't a "relay center" or fuse box under the hood, but nice to know about those other smaller unknown relays. I have never heard my buzzer, I will look into this, could be nice to have a reminder for lights - or it may be too...

Relays present/main wiring on TBI systems

1987 Suburban with sb350 TBI. Am I correct in that there is only 1 relay on this whole thing??? I have a manual transmission, so there is no auto trans kick down relay that would go next to the fuel pump relay (the sole relay I can find). The oxygen sensor is a single wire and does not have a...

    Suburban Barn Door Interior Trim

That burb I took them from was mint! If you need any small things I can check next time, I think it's still there, but for those larger trim pieces, it's really not realistic because the shipping will just get too expensive...

    Suburban Barn Door Interior Trim

I have a complete set of inner trim panels for the rear cargo doors. They are in great condition. I have the top hard piece that covers the window border, the lower soft fabric/carpet trim, and the side plastic covers that face the middle of the door opening. I finally found the proper matching...

    Unknown RPO Codes

Thanks for the info and that link! Great read! Strange there would be double codes though... C6P and E6C are both for 8600 GVWR? (or one's for frame, one's for axles or something) CMD and FLT both for Flint assembly plant? Or specific parts are both made in Flint? (and they could be done at...

    Scottsdale suburban headliner trim

I have the two trim pieces for the cargo area that hold up the headliner for scottsdale trim models -- as in not the full trim that goes around the window, but it's just a thin piece that holds the sides of the headliner (mine did not come with any trim rear of the 2nd row, no barn door trim, no...

    LMC windshield weatherstripping

Interesting... I've had a very different experience with these windshields, just replaced one not too long ago from a reputable shop. From my experience and talking about this very issue in depth with a glass shop guy, the windshield weatherstripping system used on these trucks was one of best...

    Simple Question Thread

Questions about crew cabs: 1) Did the crew cab come in different bed lengths? I think all I've seen is crew cabs with a long bed. 2) Surely there's no crew cab stepside, right? 3) Is a suburban basically a crewcab short bed? 4) Wheel base difference between suburban and crew cab?

    Factory tachometer installation

It's not really another option... Factory tach is a rare option to begin with, and even more rare (see: extremely rare) after 81 or so. If you are lucky to find one in a junkyard, (and you will need to be extremely lucky) chances are it's busted, and repairing that is going to cost you - maybe...

    Unknown RPO Codes

I looked up the RPO codes from the glovebox and was able to match just about all of them. It was great to see what my truck came with from the factory, and everything lines up nicely. However, I could not find these RPO codes listed below. Anybody know what they are? E6C FLT TFD XYT...

    heater lever issues

Working on my air, the temperature cable thing, is there something broken here? Black plastic might be, but can't tell. When the blend door is stroked, cable pops up. Where is that metal bell-shaped thing supposed to go - before or after the bracket?

    Suburban Barn Door Seals

I ordered 2 different brands of weatherstripping for the barn doors: one was Precision Restoration Parts, and the other was Metro Moulded Parts. Both were good quality, but had the same problem you guys have described. With one kit, I couldn't even close the doors even if I slammed/forced it! Of...

Burb spare tire well drain plug

What do you recommend as a replacement for the body drain plug that is at the bottom of the spare tire well? Mine is rusted out and fell apart. The hole looks to be 1.5" diameter, but I can't find any plugs in that size. Plenty of 1" plugs, of which I will be getting two for the front and two...
