    Wheel lip rubbing on UCA’s

ya I’m going to take the wheel off and grind a bit off the UCAs. Not going to touch the lip of the wheel. I’ll put in a 5/16 spacer before I do that. I’ll try to get a picture

    Wheel lip rubbing on UCA’s

I posted this to the wheel and tire section but it’s probably better suited for this section. looking at ways around this, I know I could run a spacer but the front fitment is just how I want it. Will be lowering soon. First question, would cut coils drop the UCA inside the wheel? Will be...

17x9 +20mm offset wheels rubbing UCA

Yes I know I know I should have googled first... looking at ways around this, I know I could run a spacer but the front fitment is just how I want it. Will be lowering soon. First question, would cut coils drop the UCA inside the wheel? Will be cutting at least a coil, possibly 2 and doing an...

    Headlights and turn signal issue

Well I'm an idiot. I guess a visual inspection isn't enough on these bulb sockets.i went to wiggle the front indicator wires right as they get into the socket and wouldn't you know it both the side marker and the front indicator got way brighter. No issues now. Just need to order some new...

    Headlights and turn signal issue

I've been googling and searching around but I can't quite find my answer. I'm sure it's a ground issue of some sort I just want to get an opinion, after a bit of thinking I guess it could possibly be a indicator switch? Anyway here it goes.. Headlights off -- left and right indicators work in...

    Edelbrock 1406 choke wire?

Found the issue. Ground was good. But I checked resistance between the + and - and got nothing, on the terminals anyway. I checked resistance on the rivet pins that hold each terminal on and had resistance. So I cleaned them up the best I could and put some solder to make a decent connection...

    Edelbrock 1406 choke wire?

Unless the bulb burned out at the exact time I replaced the carb I think bulb is ok. I had 14v with the engine running at that terminal while plugged in. I should have checked the ground side but I was in a hurry yesterday. Yes the power is put to the male terminal marked positive. I will try...

    Edelbrock 1406 choke wire?

I thought it was just the electric assist chokes were 6volt. The hot air choke or automatice choke whatever you want to call it. If it helps any my choke like does not come on anymore when I put the key to ignition

    Edelbrock 1406 choke wire?

I measured 14 volts running so I figured it was good? I did just use my digital test light though maybe that's off? I will check again after work with my multimeter

    Edelbrock 1406 choke wire?

I just swapped an Edelbrock 1406 onto my engine and everything works good performance wise (with the choke locked open) but for some reason I can't get my choke to heat up. I just assumed that the factory choke wire for the qjet (electric choke) would work but maybe I am wrong. I do have full...

    Idle screw caps?

You may need to knock the aluminum off from underneath the plug. Most rebuild instructions tell you where and how to remove the aluminum from the baseplate itself. But do try to take the plugs wthout cutting up the baseplate first and let us know!

    Idle screw caps?

What i did was slotted the caps with a dremel thinking I could turn them out with a screwdriver. They turned but didn't screw out so I went after it with a drill bit and it caught in the slot and pulled out pretty easy.

Will this produce the results I want

I'd say you'd be a touch more than 300 tire. Tbh though don't get hung up on numbers. You are literally doubling (if not more) power switching from your 305 to the engine you have planned. Not sure what pistons are used in the goodwrench motors but you should have a good cheap pump gas runner...

    hard crank (broken starter?) issues

this may be out of left field but is there a chance the distributor is getting stuck too far advanced before you shut the engine off sometimes? far enough to where it will kick the starter back. i know the bushings get wore down pretty bad on the weights and can get stuck at random times.. but...

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

This is underneath the valley cover, you wouldn't have had to remove the plate to replace the knock sensors. Oil pan was pretty sludgy and the pickup screen had a good layer of gunk on it. Waiting on an oil pump, cam, springs, and some misc gaskets now. Then it will get slammed back together...

    Fuel Line Question

I would get a 3 connector fuel pump. You can cap that 3rd line that goes to the charcoal canister but you will need a vented fuel cap. That is your "vent" line. Without it you will create a vacuum in the tank and have fuel starvation problems. You can also drill a small hole in the middle of...

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

I may have over reacted a bit. Just got in from checking the mess out a little more. I had let wd40 sit on it overnight from last night and a rag wipes it right off. A quick disassemble and some carb clean will work fine

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

I might actually do this. At least to clean up to the valley.

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

Plugs look normal and ports are wet from wd40 I sprayed inside of them. Believe the pickup had 135k on it. Planned on re ring, main and rod bearings and gaskets at the very least. Mainly just seeing what you guys have done for heavy gunk and if it came out decent doing it diy. I've built 8 or...

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

I may see what I can get with a scraper, a brass brush and our pressure washer. The washer goes to 275° degrees so it may work. I'll do the heads first since they are aluminun. I'll do the block when I know dang well I can get it completely dried, oiled and bagged.

Too much sh** to clean by hand?

Bought a 5.3l off a running pickup. A pickup that I knew and have driven around in. Apparently the owner wasn't too religious with oil changes though as it is GUNKED up. Judging from my pictures that I'll post have you had luck cleaning a super gunked up engine with carb clean and a brush? I...
