Manual transmission options
I am running a 5.3/NV4500/205 combo in my 77K10 with 4.56 gears on 35in tires. 70mph at about 2400 rpm. Advance Adapters and High Impact are great sources for a NV4500 swap. dougbert’s thread is full of great info.- Madhorn

77 K10. I drive it daily. 5.3 with a NV4500 5 speed trans. Here is pic of the 57 I am wanting to buy back from my brother. Unfortunately the Chevelle is long gone. Hope find another one.- Madhorn

Not about to tell you what to do. But I have been there. Had a 69 Chevelle convertible. Sold it. Have regretted it every day since. Have had a bunch of cool cars over the years but the Chevelle and a 57 Chevy truck are ones I regret selling. Fortunately my brother bought the 57 20 years ago...- Madhorn

77 K10 LS Swap
Engine has been running well since the rag was removed. It has been experiencing a fluctuating idle. Found a vacuum leak where the HVAC actuator feed line passes through the fire wall. The original plastic line has become brittle on the engine side of the firewall. Replaced about a foot worth...- Madhorn

DBW to DBC
I am using the stock DBW set up in my 77. The issue I have is when I have the AC on, the idle dips a bit when pulling up to a light with the clutch in. Then when I shut the AC off the Idle rpm wants to jump Up a bit. Still working on the tune. The idle air flow may need to be increased along...- Madhorn

Checked the oil pickup screen again today. No debris!! Looks like I finally got all the of that rag out of it. Back to regular oil changes.- Madhorn

Well, looks like it’s time to eat a little crow. Went to change the oil this morning after putting a couple hundred miles on the 77 after the whole plugged oil pickup tube deal. With the use of a bore scope inserted in the oil pan drain, I saw the that the pickup tube was partially plugged...- Madhorn

Kill switch ideas?
I have been thinking about a kill switch as well. Disabling the fuel pump may work best for me. I do have a built in deterrent. 5 speed manual.- Madhorn

First round of tuning went well. Some minor changes to MAF table. The idle is being a bit difficult. With idle set to 725, when i blip the throttle the rpms will sometimes stay around 1k or dip down to about 500. Talk to a tuning buddy this morning, he suggested pulling timing out of base idle...- Madhorn

Oil pump and new timing chain installed. Still waiting on new cam plate. Used the old cam plate to allow some oil to be pushed through the bottom end. The oil priming tank worked great. 20 psi of air in the tank easily pushed oil through the engine.- Madhorn
