Hey guys, I have been searching for a blue color that I have seen on a few of our trucks, but haven’t been able to pick it out from a swatch. I recently received a catalog from USA1 and I’m pretty sure that the truck on its cover is the color I’m looking for. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks guys, im going colorblind trying to figure this out

I don't know what name GM gave to the blue of the last few years of the square body but I can tell you two things.
1. It is slightly lighter than that pic makes it look.
2. It is a solid color, no metallic or metalflake.

Looks like 1980 Paint Code 29. That was the color of my '80 Camaro. It was a very dark blue with metal flake. People would see it at night and ask if I was the owned the "Black Camaro?". My answer was always, "No".

Our '84 Burb was this color, with silver on the sides. Very dark navy blue, no metallic in it. Don't remember what the name or code was, and it's long gone from the fleet.

Yea, the pic makes it look much darker but it actually looks like it may have some pearl in it the way the light reflects off of the body lines, but idk. I have seen this color …or something really close on a few trucks and really like it. Just not sure if it’s a factory color for our trucks. I called USA1 and they said it was a customer’s, but had no info. My ‘85 is a really dark blue ( maybe midnight blue) but I’d really like this color to go back with.

I had a 79 Camaro with code 29. I'm pretty sure it was called Midnight Blue.
People called it black a lot too. A buddy always called it green, but I figured out pretty quick that he was color blind.

Trying to match paint based on a picture can be difficult. The true color is rarely exactly what the ink on a picture shows.

Also, that may not even be a true factory color. The truck in that pic looks like someone invested some time and money into, they may have gone with a color that was not ever a GM factory color.

Yea, Redfish, I agree. That’s why I have been going nuts looking at paint chips/swatches. I have seen “this color” or something really similar on a few trucks and didn’t know if it was one of the factory colors that I was looking at or just a color that several fellow square lovers liked and decide on for their trucks. I’m an old fart and my eyes aren’t what they used to be.

There was no navy blue pearl offered for squarebody era GMs and certainly not on the trucks.
There was factory dark blue 29 and dark blue metallic 31.
This is 29.

If you’re looking for an OE color that is a dark navy with metallic and pearl, look at Chrysler Patriot blue pearl. Early 2000s vintage.
Nice color imo. Had a truck that color back in the day. It pops.
I actually shoulda used it for the 86, in hindsight. But I was stuck on “OE color.”

No one can tell you what color paint is on a cell phone pic of a catalog picture.

It could easily be either of the factory colors I mentioned.
Assuredly darker than the color @Rustisbest posted.
Here’s better pics of the color.
