    6 or 4 inch lift

Well I had a neighbor that owned a driveshaft service. He had a really large metal lathe. He was an older retired guy that did this out of his garage. He cut the shaft and welded a piece to it. Then he turned it on the lathe to make sure it did not wobble. Now this is considered a big NO NO but...

Resurrecting Clifford the big red 87 R3500

Glad you didn't get hurt in that accident. Pretty strange that your truck gets attacked by a lowly Jeep while it was parked minding its own business. Right after you post that it is for sale. George I think you better reconsider selling that truck. Somebody wants you to keep it awful bad. Just...

    6 or 4 inch lift

Yes I had to lengthen the rear for sure. I think I had to lengthen the front as well but I can't remember it's been so long ago. I also changed from an auto trans to a standard. I went from a 203 transfer case to a 205. For some reason I think the front might have been fine because of the...

    6 or 4 inch lift

I have a 6 inch lift on my 79 1/2 ton. I drove it every day for 10 years. Yes I put several u joints in it. I replaced the tires twice. I averaged about 5000 miles per year driving everywhere in town. Yes the ride is a little stiff but so what. It was fun driving it around. I am currently...

    Transmission swap

You might want to rethink the auto trans version for the truck. Here are just a few reasons for my argument to keep the standard transmission. 1. The standard transmission is very forgiving if you need to work on the engine, front end ,rear end etc. What I mean is that there is nothing to go...

Don't go anywhere George! Nice ride you got there. Yeah-never trust a squirrel. They aren't dependable unless you are feeding them.

    Park/side marker lamp problem

You need help from chengny . He is the man when it comes to chasing wiring bugs. It does sound like a ground problem to me- especially the rear lights and park lights. You did check the fuses right?

    Which do you prefer??

Yeah the best part is that it wasn't his garage!!! It was someone elses!:) They told him to crank it up so he did, quite well I might add. Yeah it runs pretty good. Guys you can't help but smile after watching that video either.:)

    Which do you prefer??

There were a couple of reasons that I made the comment about the front driveshaft. The first one is not because of the distance of the driveshaft but the difficult angle a 6 inch lift puts on the front driveshaft. If the OP has an older Blazer or truck with the standard front transfer case...

    Which do you prefer??

I hear you. I am looking at getting a new set of tires for mine and it is still a long ways from being on the road.:whymewhyme:

    Which do you prefer??

Well I drove my truck everyday, unless it was in the garage being worked on, for over 10 years. It is a 1/2 ton with a 6 inch lift and 36 inch tires. It rode pretty good on the road because it is a longbed. It also doesn't have the spring pack that a K30 has. The K 30 will ride pretty stiff on...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ok. It should look pretty good with that amount of rake. I was thinking that, since I have a 6 inch lift on my truck, that you could add a 2 1/2 inch add a leaf in the back and put 6 inch lift springs in the front. That would give you a 1 1/2" rake. Plus you could run 35-37 inch tires too.:)

What have you done to your square lately??

Ok so you have lifted just the right rear over 5 inches with the shackle flip on that side. You still need to lift the other three sides correct? When the shackle flip is done the back will be lifted 5 inches total. What is the lift on the front going to be? Are you putting a 5 inch lift under...

    carb

I know that the LP is the equal to a lot higher octane gas. I heard the number 120 octane mentioned but I don't know how true it is. That black smoke is unspent fuel going out your exhaust. You should probably pull the plugs and take a look at them after running the gas. I bet they are wet...
